rabidbite - I think the general consensus is that you just can't get as far as fast because of Rumors and Conflicts raising the difficulty of the game. The actual play script is still very valid.

rabidbite you might think about trying the Custom difficulty setting and use a Rich start. (You are playing CK Elite right?) You'll start with a little over ¥8k and 28XP. That will allow you to get the early jump on setting up your Stats and gear without trying to run the script. The rest of your custom settings can be as brutal as you want them, so other than getting that initial boost your still facing as grim a world as you desire. Using this method I start by heading to the "V's Warehouse" and get a job for delivery in KH which will be to someplace in Old Bridge. You may have to accept then drop a few jobs before they'll give you one for KH. Then I swing by Mars Inc Supply store for a pair of Raptor II pistols. Go to the Data Terminal and have Benni take me to get McFly's V-chip. After getting McFly I use him to get me to Old Bridge and make my delivery. While in Old Bridge I stop by the Old Bridge S-MART for a 2 job comp. Then jump into Old Church and hit the Happy Rogue. You want an escort for AzTek, 2 are best but you need at least 1. Take the AzTek escort and deliver him to his destination in AzTek Core then swing by Unified Research Inc for an Infiltrator Suit. Make your last contract and if your looking to play it safe head to a hotel. Otherwise you'll need to cram up and start running a bit more risk. Using this you have a 2job comp, good weapons, armor slightly better stats/skills and some decent ¥ for hotels, drugs, doctor's, taxi's etc. going into your second day with a lot less running around and taking risks.

It's not guaranteed to work. It does sometimes -- depends on what sort of encounters you run into. Of course, if you aren't playing Brutal, you get one death for free, so you can try it and see. If you are playing brutal, well, it's riskier than it was. But the starting cash on custom alleviates the need to do this for the most part -- start with the starting cash and then begin with a 2 job computer from Back Bay Importers. Then you can play the accelerated start script beginning with 2 jobs, and cut out when you begin to see red bars of heat (so do not cram yourself out any more when you see them). Unless you are playing a female 2 non glove user, get the cyan glove from Back Bay Importers as well. Snipers will probably want to buy the mk251 bounty at this time as well. If you are playing rich, you will get 30 XP to spend your next sleep, and this should give you the AP to be able to use it. Otherwise I'd go with a strumwhelger rifle or 2, or 1 with the mk251 bounty over raptors, but I wait to buy Strumwhelgers until after this run.
My aim for this run is to raise 10,000Y so I can buy a 4 job computer.
I don't spend money on armour. Once you are done with this you are off to ganger land to raise your stats, and you don't need expensive (or in my case _any_) armour for gangers. With a 4 job computer getting the cash for your first set of dodge and hard armour is easy, but with a 2 job computer it is harder to raise the cash for the 4 job computer.
So -- new accelerated start. Wake up. Walk to Back Bay Importers. Buy 2 job computer, taser glove and maybe the mk251 Bounty. Taxi to Texas Roadhouse. Take 2 jobs that go to the same zone, and be careful that if they are to Aztek Core you don't take one to Frontline Medical Warehouse unless they are both to there. Stop off at the Six Shooter Club (unless going to the Frontline Medical Warehouse) and buy crammers. Walk or taxi to the Bar of Birds. Take 2 jobs back to Mars Core. Use crammers if necessary.
If things are getting hot for you, which means that you had to turn down a lot of jobs trying to get a pair, quit now. If not, take 2 jobs back from Texas Roadhouse. This will give you your starting cash for the 4 job computer.
For your second day you need to buy a strumwhelger if you want one, get McFly's chip, buy some stims and some medkits, get yourself healed to 9 HP and make a certain faction pleased enough with you so that you can go to their VIP lounge and buy the 4 job computer. Remember that with the extra XP the rich start gave you -- maybe we want to change things so that starting money and starting XP separately customisable? -- you will attract a higher caliber of enemy, so you want to make sure you avoid them on day 2.
Have fun.
Note, since you are looking for background information ...
Back Bay Importers is a truly wonderful store. But it used to be even more wonderful, selling as its description reads the best weapons no matter what corp makes them. Now it is a Yakashima house.
If you get inside the Streets VIP rooms you can buy a 3 job computer there for 8.5K. If you cannot, you have to make a trip to Mars Corp Importers in Charlesbank. In addition to being the only place that sells it they are also the only place that sells the 30K Kraken suit. It's a Dodge 3, Nano Ready, Hard Armour. Nearly every CK wants one, but oh, the cost! Nano ready medkits can be found at Back Bay Importers.
Make sure you visit Remington Arms in City Hall to check out the odd guns there sold nowhere else.
Make sure you check out all the Corps Cybernetic clinics to find their one of the kind items. Cyberdyne Medical Tech in Downtown is particularly interesting for the CK with tons of cash.
edit: ooops, was interrupted.

I can finally say I'm getting into the groove of CK. The Made Not Born tutorial is walking me through it step by step. It also has interesting dialogue which helps with jargon, environment and basic realities. I hope it has a friendly conversation where the politics, corps and gangs are explained. We'll see rabid

Sorry that conversation is above your pay grade. You are not a citizen, you are a tool. A weapon.

Ok, with the new v2 connectors this technique will not work at all. I think I should unsticky this. Anybody object?

grävling - your second post explains why it was dangerous to sticky in the first place. I'd be happy to unsticky at this point, as it means someone else needs to write a new one

Yeah, this doesn't work at all now. I went to Texas Road House, and all I got were threaten, capture, and raid jobs. After accepting and bailing on a bunch of them, my rep with Mars is -47 and my heat is 137 (90). I'm afraid to take a step away from the door. Oh, BTW, "whack-a-mole" is well known in English. I keep forgetting that grävling is Swedish, her writing in English looks like she is a native speaker. She actually writes better than a lot of native English speakers.

The new jobs system has basically debunked this accelerated start, I believe.

Ah, I actually am a native English Speaker. I just live in Sweden now. But I only know whack-a-mole from a Swedish amusement park, Liseberg, so I wondered if it was a more popular game than that ...

Well, that would explain why you write like a native speaker.

And I kind of wonder what her Swedish sounds like, now that I know she is likely to have a British accent. *grin*
