Is 317 turns on my first impossible game any good? I have no idea... I spent literally the entire game buying W/F and surrendering to every Pirate I came across... Damn mutineers were the death of me. With a high enough Negotiation, you can make Luxury Water stretch much, much further than an equivalent amount of WF- depending on your Pilot skill, of course. A huge pilot skill will also drop your WF used.

I've tried running on zero WF and zero luxury rations on an Impossible game. Obviously it didn't last very long, but I was surprised at how far I got. The trick is to Bribe the crew during mutinies -- half of $0 is still $0, so I don't lose anything. :-P
(Funnily enough, I did exactly the same thing on a Crazy game that went wrong -- lasted me long enough to fill a high-paying contract after stupid indy pirates almost blew up my ship and I spent all my money on repairs. I managed to pull through that scrape thanks to that contract, and live for quite a while longer after that. But, Crazy being Crazy, eventually I got either shot down by more stupid indy pirates or wiped out by insanely high-level Aliens popping up out of nowhere at the wrong time.)

"There's been a major meeting of spice traders on (Insert Planet Name), they say the halls and market are overflowing!" Go to exchange. 5 spice. Overflowing... right...

It -was- overflowing. Then the addicts and merchants showed up just before you got there.

But it started overflowing the second I got there... those addicts are FAST.

Zer0Winds What, you mean you didn't know the addicts pay a weekly rate in order to have spice beamed directly from the exchange to their empty skulls?

News to me. I'm an independent from a poor world where no one had that. I'm lucky I have a ship.

Everyone IS an addict, but then there's those... those one addicts that take addiction to a whole new level.

So is Star Traders an euphemism for Spice Traders?

"There's been a major meeting of spice traders on (Insert Planet Name), they say the halls and market are overflowing!" Go to exchange. 5 spice. Overflowing... right... Note that the rumor says "halls and market", not "halls and exchange". The spice is actually flowing in the spice hall (you can see this if you go to the spice hall), but doesn't necessarily flow to the exchange too. Local markets are generally closed to off-worlders. Besides, the real purpose of this rumor is for the pilot officer.

Ever notice how the names of stars furthest to the South make the least sense? Names like "Thathachuab" and "Bhotshugnygg" just aren't found North of Y coordinate 35.
I have to wonder if it is just a coincidence, an easter egg of some sort, or if Cory gave up and let a guy in a suspicious hat that may or may not be a Xenoform type in the last few names.

No man, look at real life, the farther south you go, the weirder things get...makes complete sense to me...

Maybe those names do come from Xenoform names?
