fallen, yeah that is when my resolve starts to crack as well. The temptation to just rush those final two squares leaving each Templar (minus the captain and his amazing 9AP) defenseless is pretty big. I always try to end my turns with at least half my squad sitting at 2 left over AP, that way any incoming xenos get (hopefully) dealt with. Also glad to hear the campaign will get an eventual conclusion. Damn Malloc needs to be brought to justice! I'm equally glad that everyone has enjoyed Unit 314 so far. I'll admit that I'm a pretty terrible writer and that I usually am writing these late at night after work/exercising/cooking dinner/etc so I can... rush a bit. However, I try to at least make it a little interesting. If anyone has any pointers or criticism about my writing style please feel free to voice them. I managed to blast through the last mission this morning on the subway! I don't think I'll be able to write it up fully today, but I'll try to get a pre-mission briefing posted if I get a decent chance. Have a good one folks!

johndramey - one comment -- your Templars say things like "good lord" and "by God" where you might try saying things about "Shalun" or "Shalun law" or "the the righteous law"

haha good catch. I always mean to go back and edit those into the proper phrases, but to be honest I wasn't sure how to spell Shalun so I didn't want to get caught misspelling anything and just put in "lord" as a placeholder because... well.... Templars! I'll mark it down as the next thing to get modified when I make the next post.
I'm not sure if anyone noticed, but I keep a running tally of kills/missions completed on the first post. Also notable is each individual Templar's record, when they joined Unit 314, and when they died.
Ah, and fallen, I was going to run through the campaign you suggested but thought that I might make a suggestion. Do you have any particular campaign that you want tested? I can run through any campaign with the 314 and try to spot any bugs as I go, so it could be a kill-two-birds-with-one-stone sort of thing.
Also, anyone that wants to join the 314 as a templar let me know. I'm sure I'll take some losses at one point or another and inserting forum posters could be a fun way to get involved. You could even guide your templar's progress, where to spend the XP and what gear to kit him out with.
Ah, one question fallen/cory/anyone who knows. What decides the color of a templar's armor? It seems that exo-scouts and soldiers can be either green or yellow. Is it something that is randomly decided, or is it based on what armor they are wearing?

Prelude is up in the Unit 314 thread for whomever wants to read it. I'm tired and it's been a long day, so I'll save writing up the mission for tomorrow (hopefully). Hope you guys all like the lead up, this is the last mission in the campaign and I'm excited to see what the next campaign turns out to be.

Glad you liked it. Today has been a really long day, so I think I'm going to hold off on writing the next installment. I was supposed to be able to relax tonight, but the lady wants to hang out so I gotta go out. So I won't be able to spend an hour or so sitting in front of the computer typing. Sorry folks, hopefully I can get an update out tomorrow.

Ok folks! It's been a long week, but I've got the next update up over in the 314 thread! Click here to get over there and see what this update brings! A couple questions for anyone that wants to put in their two cents... 1) We have finished the campaign! What is the next campaign you guys want to see? Fallen voted for Vengeance of the Templar which I'm inclined to go with, but if anyone has any other ideas I'm more than happy to listen to you! 2) The squad has exactly 4391 honor, what should I spend it on? I can outfit my troops pretty well with this, either a basic upgrade for everyone in the squad or focusing on a single member. Or I can recruit some other members. What do you think? 3) How's everyone like the general style of the play through? Is it going ok? Any suggestions? I hope everyone enjoys it, I'm mostly doing this so TA gets some more exposure and people see how damn intense it can be. Hopefully some people even see how I play and learn a little bit from the thread. I'll work on the next update as soon as we decide what campaign to work on next. Hope everyone is having a good weekend/weekday/night/morning/etc!

The level report is awesome! Great work capturing how nasty things can get as you come around that first big corner and head east!

Haha yeah, I honestly didn't even really think about that corner when I made my plans for the mission. Color me surprised when the side I thought would have pretty light resistance turned into the heaviest enemy concentrations on the map. Whew, good job with the spawn points on that map!

Glad you liked it! I'm still planning on picking up unit 314 soon, just gotta get through these next two weeks or three weeks. I'm working 6 days a week for the next two weeks, and then have a marathon to run. So little time.....
