johndrameyYou and I could have a contest to see who got the lowest score. I messed up spectacularly. Fortunately Slayernz believes in not humiliating us and accepts a score of 0 rather than minus...ooh I can't count that low.

Haha good deal Lesleyr, we should start a "failed at a challenge horribly" club Scores are up in the challenge thread by the way. Great job contributor!

I had a blast organizing this challenge - it was my first ... I'll have to pass on arranging the next event, but am happy to participate.

I can think of a few ST challenges, but I know we just did one of those. I'm not sure I have the time to moderate them right now though. Who did the CK one? Was it grävling? I don't even know who the major CK forum members are.

I can't think of another TA one just now apart from doing a series of campaigns. Prestige does provide some additional avenues for scoring, but It's the weekend and my brain is on standby.

We could do another TA challenge, easy to design and relatively fun for everyone. TA has the benefit of being relatively simple for people to pick up. I ran the CK challenge last time around and it was pretty fun. I think if we want to do another CK challenge we might want to consider a more... combat oriented challenge. Last time I tried to run a simple delivery contract and, while it was fun, I think it dragged near the end. I'd be more than happy to design the challenge and deal with all the scoring, but I'm going to be on vacation from the 2nd to the 3rd week of September. I can post everything up and let people play and just check everything when I come back. Basically, we can do any game we feel like. ST is a lot of fun, and I don't think there is anything really wrong with running another ST challenge. We're doing this for fun, after all

One thing that I had come up with a while ago is the Collector ...
"The Collector" Objective - collect at least one flag ship from each faction in the quickest time possible ... maybe on Demanding and Crazy difficulties like the above. On the face of it, this seems a very straight forward challenge, but there are a number of aspects that need to be considered. 1) What is the fastest way to get to rank 17 (needed before Flagship becomes visible) 2) How do I manage RP - because getting to Rank 17 quickly means you're going to be standing on someone's toes 3) How do I fund my challenge? You're going to need lots of cash. This is because the flagships aren't cheap, and buying your way to rank 17 is also not pocket change.
Challenge ends as soon as you have purchased your last flagship (timestamp is from your ship log entry) Score is: Turns: (10,000 - turns played)x2 Ranks: + sum of all military ranksx50
Optional? Reputation: + sum of reputation across all factions Cash: + Cash rounded down to nearest thousand /1000
So ... Captain Schlurmp managed to complete the challenge in 5310 turns, with 27 ranks (summed), -3190 reputation (summed), and $2,310,419 cash.
Points Turns: (10000 - 5310)x 2 = 9380 Ranks: + 27 x 50 = 1350 Reputation: + -3190 Cash: + 2,310,000 / 1000 = 2,310 = 9850
So obviously faster you do it, the more you get. There is a bonus for having high military ranks at the end of the challenge too. You're going to have at least have rank 17 with one faction, but will you have it for other factions too?
I'm not sure if the Reputation and Cash is something to take into account - I think it forces you to balance out your behavior. In my example above, I let my imaginary captain get a very bad reputation with Steel Song, and the net Reputation across all factions was affected by this bias.
Anyway ... what do you think? Is it something that you could sink your teeth into ... is it too easy? (6 Flagships isn't very hard ... just be nice, buy ranks, buy ships).

I'd be interested in a rather simple CK challenge. First to 250,000Y wins. But you have to play with Insta-Die. (So you cannot just take escort jobs out of the Bar of Birds and Texas Roadhouse forever.) There is also the possibility for a rep challenge. Get Rep of 125 or better with 3 or maybe 5 factions.
Just ideas...

Cool ... I like Gravling's suggestion ... simple = fun I NEED to start playing CK. I haven't really given it a proper go since 0.3x or 0.4x

grävling's idea is a good one! I think I might even be able to play something like that while on the plane. Getting that much cash doesn't take too much time if you upgrade your combat skills and take some of the higher risk/return jobs. Or maybe hacking has become more lucrative? CK would be a good next challenge, I always want to play more of that game but never actually sit down to do it. Having a good excuse to do so would be really nice.

I had more simple variation on mind, "Flagship Captain" = You have to play Captain (to get around rank discounts etc.) and your goal is to get Flagship ASAP. Nothing else matters. Just how many turns it takes you. Simple .

Is anyone up for a ST challenge if I organize one. I've got two relatively good ideas.
Hometown Hero: Get the most awards with one captain
True Zealot: Go all-out for your favorite faction, winning them glory on the forums
