I would keep Free Streets out of it if you allow for escort jobs. If escort jobs aren't allowed along with the kidnaping and assassination jobs then they should be fine.
Of course that's just my own opinion and its been a while since I played CK.

xdesperado - yeah, I'd keep escort/assassination/kidnapping out of the job listings. I'm thinking this should be a pacifist challenge, obviously combat if you absolutely have to survive would be allowed, but combat jobs are a no-no. So do people think this is a decent challenge? If so I'll create a post for it and we can start it up!

We could push Knight to Brutal, cause that's what I play at anyway, but I thought we should try to have it accessible to most people. Although maybe Knights being brutal would allow for a $/500 without seeming too much? Also, I was thinking the Fens, Los V, and Streets would be the factions to choose from. Any reason to rule out the Blue Ox? This is a very good challenge for message and package runners, but the gangs aren't really into data courier at all, so if you want to do that for cash, you would be better off working for the Yakuza, KH, BS or the corps. Of course nothing in this challenge prevents you from having a second interest besides your ganger one. Are there any professional restrictions (cannot be Sniper, Gunslinger or CyberSword, for instance?) Are there any character restrictions (cannot be Male II or Female II, for instance?) ps paddling was great.

Also for the delivery challenge it is important to specify whether or not you can do any hacking. The challenge part of a message and delivery only job is mostly 'they pay so poorly'. If you allow hacking, well, that problem goes away. Also getting insanely high reps with the faction of your choice is easy, as they all love paydata that much. I think it would be better to forbid hacking, as I fear the winning strategy in a hacking-allowed game would be to do nothing but hack, and skip the package deliveries, except to get minimal survival stats. Which would sort of defeat the point.
As for scoring this thing -- if you scored points for your final stats and abilities, this would encourage people to deliver many more packages, especially if there was a time limit.

grävling - That's actually a very good idea. I guess we could allow Blue Ox, I didn't mainly because I don't really know much about them. If you think they fit in, well we can toss them right in! I was thinking that hacking should be forbidden because, well like you said, it would be too easy to just forgo the jobs totally. Finally, for scoring, how do you think the score should be calculated? I was thinking a simple (rep) + (money divided by 1,000 {normal}/500 {crazy/brutal} ) and making it so the score from the money cannot be more than double the score from rep. Including attributes is a good idea, maybe all of your attributes x 5 included into that score?

We are getting to the point where however you decide to score it will be fine, it will just produce different winning strategies.
A flat X times your ability total will encourage people to put points in stats they don't need for the score, while one that gave you, just as a thing to say, the square of your final stats would encourage people to try to develop one stat a whole lot ...
Which would be more fun? I think we will have to try one and find out. We're well into 'experience trumps theory' land at this point.
I think you need a simple rule like -- only message and package deliveries allowed. Data Courier can be in or out depending on what you want, but it's not something that the gangs want you to do. Then will there be a time limit? Either a real life one¸or a game time one?

grävling - You be the boss! Thanks for all of your input, and please feel free to give more. You're definitely the pro when it comes to CK, so I'm completely open to your suggestions. As far as time limits, well the real life one will be 1 week, the in game time limit will be 6 months. That said, I've created the challenge thread! Here is a link to the challenge thread itself, and here is a link to the discussion thread. Go check everything out, let me know what you think! The challenge will start proper in another day or two (depending on your timezone) so we got time to fine-tune everything. Also, fallen or Cory Trese, if either of you guys get a chance tossing up something about the challenge on the CK facebook page might bring in some more people.

So since the CK challenge is winding down now we can start to ponder what the next one should be, yeah? We did learn a couple things from the CK challenge, namely that a shorter time limit is generally a better one. Additionally, we had a couple pretty active participants this time around, it seems there are at least 4-5 people playing and hopefully they'll all submit score ( *hint* *hint* ).
So, what next?

I think the time limit in real life days was just fine, it was the time limit in game days that was too long. We all had plenty of time to totally max out our character stats, for instance. A 60 day in game limit would not have done this, and made for some interesting decisions -- do I take that skill upgrade I really need, or do I keep on working the attributes? Thanks again for running this.

This was a great challenge . I definantly agree about a shorter limit.
An idea I thought of is a scavenger challenge. Scoring based on net worth of looted items.
Though, should we switch to a different game? I'm fine with CK, but what does everyone else think?

My vote is for either a TA or ST challenge next.

So you are telling me... That there was... Star Traders challenge... AND I MISSED IT? See? What happens when you leave the community for a while? NO!!! Hahaha, and it was a wicked awesome pirate one too!!! Alia (or her children) would have been amazing to behold! There are a bunch of challenges queued up for ST, but it would be good to get the next challenge set for TA. We aim to have one challenge per month, and this the next challenge will be the fourth. It's very exciting watching people step up and take on the game in this way.
