So...what's your Explorer skill looking like? It should take long to get that sucker up to 10 or 12. Also, it's worth taking a trip to pick up scouts if there's a rumor and they're nearby.

So i finally nail this award as explorer aptly named" bloody hell". Talk about frustrating lol It took me a few tries to get it; it's necessary to get a little bit lucky with some hefty-ish exploration returns. I see listed an even higher award, Rapid Rank III, where you have to get to rank #9 in 4y 36wks. Seems a little further implausible. Zealot doesn't seem all that attractive as a character class; I haven't taken it anywhere interesting :-(. Now, if I could only survive Crazy long enough to get the 3 syndicates up to 150 reputation. I was almost there this morn, only to get killed off while pursuing a contract. Grr...

we need to add more long term goals as well -- i have the issue where my captains go off track for the short ones (like rapid rank) but then i need a good reason to keep raging them.
i have some ideas.

On the core topic of the OP, I tried to do it in the way that is mentioned here, but I couldn't and in the trying I noticed why: When I sell artifacts, time passes quickly!!! Say I sell 10 artifacts, and 15 weeks pass like this. WTF??? I can understand time passing when I COLLECT artifacts, since this happens over the planet. But when selling? Playing as Clan Javat Explorer on Demanding. I never read a thread about this feature. Is there any attribute that stops time when selling artifacts? The same thing happened when I checked it in a saved captain (Clan Javat Explorer on Hard), although it gets less noticeable at a higher level).

If you need more ideas, please let me know dude. I already have a few. I have far too many years of gaming under my belt and a dangerously high level of creativity. I never read a thread about this feature. Is there any attribute that stops time when selling artifacts? Nothing really slows time. You just need to get lucky with your first couple exploration attempts, and fill up your hold real fast. Having the Picky Beggar ship unlocked from getting the first Rapid Rank achievement really helps with this strategy. It has a decent sized hold that will let you make fewer trips, and good crew capacity that will help you have plenty of overly-optimistic idiots to die valiantly in search of riches for you to sell.

Errr, these items are restricted goods and if you get to a market saying "Hey, I got 23 tons of Ancient technology here, give me your best price", it's gonna take a fair bit of time to (a) find the right people who can are allowed to buy the hardware off you, (b), are willing to pay the price on the table, and (c), are able to stump up the cash. In some markets, stuff sells pretty quickly, but in others, trying to move somewhat-restricted materials in bulk will definitely take time. Try selling a crack house in a hurry (if you aren't Charlie Sheen) and see how long it takes to shift.

Guess it's the Trese brothers' fault for making such a fantastic game. Anyways, I got the bloody award last night, with a little bit of luck as it is necessary. Funny thing with artifacts again: I was selling them to Javats, as a Clan Javat captain, but I was getting more rep points for Thulun who had a Trade Alliance (23 rep for Javat in 4 years, and 57 rep for Thulun). So, instead of waiting for the Javat prince to finish his other business and promote me before 61.37 AE, I just dropped by to Ursae-Thulun and asked for my 6 ranks in one go. Each ceremony takes a couple of weeks as well. Gotta love those artifacts, whatever they are, Cheers

They are, in fact, cartons of Doom 1 Shareware 3 1/2" floppy disks. There seems to be a resurgence of DOS based games among crews of long-haul ships. The frustrating thing is NOT that modern ship-based computers don't actually have a floppy drive (or support DOS), but rather, nobody actually know what this "credit card" thing is, or how to "fax" the details to buy the full version of the game.

The best way IMO is start with De Valtos and keep doing easy contracts (no bounty contracts) with them exclusively. And only do the ones close by. I did it in about 4 tries. The first 3 had no contracts available. Level up stealth to lessen encounters. Finished the award around 60.3~

Time will be reduced by having more rank, selling into a shortage, having a trade permit (even if you aren't selling illegal goods.) Reputation doesn't help and negotiation increases the time (to get those really good prices.)

Ah, so you need to be rank 18, selling in a shortage with a permit, but a scoundrel with a complete disregard to the negotiation skill.
