fallen - I figured I'd probably have too much gold because of that. I'm a compulsive 100%er, so I almost always wreck the money balance in RPGs. If I had about half then I'd be perfect, just enough to upgrade and set back out.

Ok, just got all of the equipment unlocked and managed to fully kit out my team. Cost me around 900 gold, I have about 170 gold left over after selling all of my extra gear. I'll post a full run down of what my team is carrying in the Monday thread, but suffice to say I'm very satisfied with their equipment now!
Prices seem good right now, if you fully explore every crack and crevice you have enough to get whatever you want, but if you miss some stuff then you are going to need to be a little choosy.

johndramey - awesome. It is great to have the 100%'er view on it as well!

Well, as a 100%er the balance seemed fine. I had enough money to be able to shop around and equip my party as I saw fit, but not enough to feel like I was totally safe from economic concerns. If the gypsies were there I would have really had to choose between upgrading everyone's weapons or stocking up on potions.
Actually, depending on how scarce you are going to try to make potions, that could really influence the feeling of plenty at the moment. If you were to.. say.. half the current amount of potions found on the map then things would get quite interesting.
I know that you said the potions would be relatively expensive, but since we can't see them could you just post what prices you currently have for them? I'm curious as to how much of an issue that would have become for my financial situation.

Small Healing Tincture Heals 20-50 Health - costs 40 Healing Tincture Heals 40-80 Health - costs 80
Small Spirit Infusion Restores 40-70 Spirit - costs 60 Spirit Infusion Restores 60-90 Spirit - costs 112
Their overall appearance in loot should be tempered in P3.

To answer the question of the thread :
I'm playing on easy and I rushed through the Void, opening only chest when I saw one, so I got out of it with scarce money (around 500 and only one extra piece of equipment).
When I first got into the shop, I was able to buy every new weapon available (which is exactly what I expected on easy) and got down the mine to retrieve the smith resources.
When I get back into town and was able to buy new weapons and armor I bought the best armor in the shop for everybody (including shields. BTW, I find a bit odd to find them classified as weapon), I also bought the best weapons for the outlander and the cleric (thus changing the ones I bought earlier).
In brief : I had made the choice not to get out of the cellet void with a lot of money and I was able to upgrade equipment nonetheless (except for the thief which is wielding the flat bow) so I find it well balanced considering equipment.
Of course, the gypsies being away I didn't bought any potion and considering the amount of gold left (36 gp...) If the gypsies hadn't flee the town I would have to make harsh choice on what to buy. Don't misunderstand me on this : I had made my choice in the first place, rushing through the void left me in this situation so no problem in having financial problems. The contrary would have been strange.

I should definitely buy some. Right now I'm playing on easy and due to a kind of berserker tactic (get my outlander running at enemies and cleric heal as much as she can ) I feel the need to have more potions. To me the prices are correct, there's a lot of gold to harvest in the mines and, since I already bought the best equipment available, I only need gold for potions. Of course, I should keep some to buy new equipment when I found a new shop but that is only for P3 if I understood well

I'm finding that I'm running low on SP in a bunch of my fights. (I am currently playing a buffing-style party with a melee thief and caster cleric) Typically I can only take 2-3 fights, tough ones are more like 1-2, before someone in my group is sucking down potions for more spirit. So I'd definitely buy them.
I can't really say about the gold. I fear I'm a completionist and I completely cleared out the void before moving on to Granthorn, took several rests but what the heck. So when I got out of the void I had enough gold to clear the ratkin guarding the smith's supplies and buy every single upgraded thing and have gold to spare. That said, I don't think I get 60+ gold a fight, so I think they would remain a "use in case of emergency" kind of item.

The items in the shop are good although I would have hoped for a tiny bit higher damage swords and daggers. I actually found similar loot in the Void area itself. Two things would improve the shopping experience though 1) Being able to go back to the shop menu after selecting, say, weapons without having to leave the shop. This way you can go shop menu --> weapons --> shop menu --> armor rather than shop menu --> weapons --> out --> shop menu --> armor
2) Being able to compare weapons with what you are carrying. You have to exit the shop, look at your gear, either write the stats down (or memorize them), then re-enter the shop in order to do a comparison.

slayernz - awesome, both are on the list! absimiliard - gold is usually not a worry for a completionist player, so that is good.

Sorry, busy day yesterday. IMO this prices seem good, enough that they are a bit of a burden but not so much that they are totally out of the question. I also play a buff heavy party and, as such, would probably buy at least a couple small spirit infusions. If I had a lot of cash left over I'd also probably pick up a Spirit Infusion or three, take the hurt off some of my long fights.

I like both of those idea's +1 +1 When I first went into the store, I found it hard to see what I had for a current weapon / armor and compare it against what's available.
