Artefacts can have a positive or negative gain of rep.

Yeah but there's a greater chance of +rep

Agh!! I hate it when I have a new fledgling captain on insane that starts to make some headway, has a decent bank balance and is on course to get the reach lvl 50 on insane challenge and I decide to try getting a bit further in the game as I'm winding down for the day.
And in my bloody food induced half coma state I miss read some text and throw that captain down the drain never to be heard from again!!
Lesson one for any new guys out there: do not attempt high difficulties unless sharp and fully awake!!!

I hate it when.... Syndicate Rychart. Full stop. They are by far the hardest to maintain positive rep with in the early game (is it just me?) and later on when I don't have to worry about battles too much I just use them for target practice on my way past Kashtisha. They also seem to make up more than their fair share of the pirates I encounter in most of my games.

I hate it when I decide to declare war on a certain Syndicate/Clan faction with one of my captains, only to find out 4 hours later that I selected the wrong captain. Whoops.

I hate it when...
Im level 49 on insane and run into a level 126 alien in green space northeastern quadrant....with the 3rd captain in a row. thank god for force close
All 6 factions are in embargo with eachother and indy worlds are carrying less than 15 w/f
Get a capture contract. Find the target is a level 7 merchant in a cruddy little shuttle with 2 armour and 6 hull. 1 shot kill. Bummer
Im in a smashed ship with a mutinous crew and no resources but a fat wallet and get 8-10 consecutive encounters trying to land for repairs.... what kind of captain can smell blood in space?

Lol I'm still on Demanding, TEACH ME UR HAXX!! I hate picking the wrong captain for inter-faction war, but right now I'm hating on my Demanding Pirate not having a single trade war to put himself in, and on Clans in the northwest not having a SINGLE contract for me to do, one assassin war be damned... :/

Im now on 58 with custom ship and 6.8m creds in the bank. I stay friendly with all factions play as spy. Sell cargo of restricted good straight away then pump contracts. When you hit level 10 to 12 ypu should be able to blockade/surveiilance consistently. Just do heaps of them depending on the diplomatic situation. By level 25 to 28 you should have big +rep with all factions. Then try and hit all the awards as you dont have to worry about anything but the odd hostile indy pirate
My haxx is on samsung phones, if you get into a combat you cannot win or escape from, press the middle button down on your phone to go back to desktop. Then hold that button and close ST. then re-enter the game. Your ship will be over the square you entered commbat in but unharmed and ready to continue. On principle i only use this Against aliens. I still carry escape shuttle because Duke Baelon Cadar dosent surrender to indy scum
If this is a bug ill stop playing the day they fix it. Im not a masochist i dont like spending a day and a half building up a succsessful captain just to be ended by something totally beyond my control. I dont see a challenge there to me it just unfair

Boo!!! The fun is getting massacred by an alien only to escape very luckily. I'm a masochist though...
When a battle starts in HoS and after three turns you still can't find the badguy.
I'd thought what I'd do, was pretend I was one of those deaf-mutes- Catcher in the Rye/G.I.T.S SAC

I hate it when... ... contracts are false. Really nasty when I accept a contract/quest for a faction and finding out its all for ANOTHER faction at the end. Can't even junk the contract siting false pretenses because it affects AWARDS contract completion. Heck, not even dying irritates me as much. Wish I could chainsaw the contract giver rabid That one chaps my hide too. Because there really is nothing you can do. If you don't care about your contract success rate you can just bail though.

add to this thread in this format... I hate it when I arrive at any planet and it has a water-fuel shortage. I hate it when I trigger a huge trade embargoe rep loss even though I looked right beforehand to make sure there weren't any and watched the toasts for them. It seems that sometimes when a solar war comes up they don't bother to tell you they also embargoed each other. And sometimes I scan too fast and miss one. Fortunately I am in the habit of only buying one water-fuel as a test 99% of the time before fueling up. Still ... I think W-F should be exempt from embargoes anyways. I mean, c'mon I can't even fuel up or I'm a terrorist? Harsh man. Harsh.

I hate it when I die from accidents with zero crew. I just lost a captain two turns after beating a higher level MO. So embarrassing to be the soul survivor of an epic battle, only to die running up and down the stairs between the bridge and engine. I've only had this happen this one time, but it was pretty frustrating. Even with the hilarious image.

I hate it when I fire a torp to open a kill contract, and the target escapes the battle. The crumpled contract hits the waste basket, but the torp misses...I need a new pilot...
