"Fuck you, Tomas!" "Alan, are you drunk on Spice again?" "Yeah, maybe! So what?!" "Last time this happened, you stole a De Valtos cargo hauler and came back piloting a Zenga Hive Ship." "Big deal, last time you got drunk, you slept with my wife!" "Alan, just lay off the Spice for a bit. Let's go back to the Vae Victus, i'll take you to Javat Mining Camp and you live your life on port like i promised. Ok?" "Fine! The journey better not take long." "Oh, and Alan?" "Yeah?" "If i recall correctly, it was actually your sister." "What? No it wasn't." "I got drunk more than once in my life. " "You're a piece of shit, you know that?" Actual conversation i had in DV Prime with my Ship's Pilot.

"There has been a Syndicate navy crackdown in deep space." "Why is it always a Syndicate navy? Because, dear patron, you're in a Devaltos Spice Hall, in the center of the civilized quadrant. Any nearby abusive crackdowns, confiscations, and accidental exploding of ships is almost certainly going to be done by a Syndicate. Secondly, let's face it, the tribes (err houses) aren't exactly that big on the navy crackdowns. Sure, they've got fleets, but they are too busy protecting their own trade routes to worry about cracking anything. Now are you gonna buy another round?

Wait, what about Steel Song? Don't they have some cracking going on? Also, Spice or Vudka?

Steel Song, don't get me started on Steel Song. They have a piss-poor excuse for a fleet, and are trying to live the glory days when cardboard ships were all the rage. They prosper through piracy, have zero intrinsic benefit to anyone in the quadrant* and waste a terrible amount of teapots. Vudka with a spice-rimmed class. *Okay, I do admit that Steel Song ships do provide useful target practice for crews

Wait, what about Steel Song? Don't they have some cracking going on? Also, Spice or Vudka? Now, don't listen to slayernzSteel Song are indeed powerful, but they also have a lot of bounty Hunters. Because why not? So, they don't crack down, but there's something worse. The endless supply of bounty Hunters. Or the random guy in space who wants to be a bounty Hunter, and takes the job at level one, and then dies. That, and because we don't need a reason to crack down. The syndicates are packed full of conflict, and Stuff. We're above that. Also whatever happens, don't listen to the lies about Steel Song. They are all merely afraid of us.

I want to believe you, friend, i really do, but when it comes to the Factions, i find Steel Song to be especially painful to deal with. I've had 5 Trade Permits with them just this game, but they just keep embargoing everybody. And that's not good for bussiness. And the pirates, don't even get me started on the pirates! EVERY TIME i get a sweet deal with Eletronics on Javat Mining Camp they ruin everything! And as the professional merchant i am, i don't go by moral standarts or philosofy, i got by ammount of pain in my ass, which makes Steel Song equivalent to Independents to the point i can't tell their worlds apart. Steel Song crews are the only ones who ever pissed me off enought o resort to enslavement. But hey, you know what they say...no legacy among the stars.

Tomas of Moklumnue it's not our fault we get into so many embargoes, it is the fault of other factions. We try to resolve disputes with good old-fashioned violence, but the other factions are like " nooo, let's be 'civil' and go to court petitioning for trade embargoes".

Well wars don't evolve me. The works of bureaucracy grind us all.

Trust us... Bureaucracy is not for us. Bounty Hunters, and such don't care for such things.

Well, terrific. You know, come to think of it actually, everytime there's a large scale operation on some feral world, it's always Syndicate sponsored too. What gives?
By the way, i just got a great deal on my game, massive surplus on Cadar Prime, 4000+ Spice on their Exchange, sold it all on Syndicate Core, 350000+ Credits. Next round's on me!

Woohoo - yup, actually I'd have dumped as much of it into a cache on Ugolhush ... it's a great temporary storage facility and then when the next spice shortage pops up, you can go nuts and sell a fortune. Get yourself a Devaltos flagship with extra cargo, and you can haul heeeeeeeeeeeeeeeaps at once.

This game's going great for me, got myself a Trade Permit with all the Factions except Steel Song (go figure). Yet i just know i'm counting the days until some jackass Independent Bounty Hunter hits my hull and sends me into the infinite expanse of the Void. Happens every single time, even when i stay away from Independent space. It' always them or Steel Song. Why the hell can i never get along with Steel Song!?
