What do you think? Is Nightmare mode too easy?

No it is not. There are times I have made it pretty far (I still have yet to beat the main shaman), there are times I get killed in the dungeons and I start over.

You tell me. Does 34 deaths in Ep 1, Act 1 sound too easy to you?

Well my Vince build was pretty much unplayable in NM for several reasons, mainly because he is a huge spirit hog.
My Karj party was doing better, spear Vraes wasn't too happy with Kyera out damaging him regularly, but at least he could take the hits so she got lots of swings. He felt better after reaching Riven Fields and finally getting a spear upgrade...for a level or so. Then they hit Red Hill & even with improved armor gear and buffs Vraes has been getting hammered while dropping back to mediocre damage which means Kyera spends most of her time as a healbot.
Since I'm thinking about starting a thread on what to do in RL while walking to & from camps...no, I don't think NM is too easy.

Even with a lot of experience, and careful planning, there are times where you just can't account for everything, and ole Shifty Eyes gets poked one too many times in the goulies. Result, you fail and find yourself trying to escape from the local jail once more I've even found on my main "Normal" game, I've died just recently because one stupid lizard archer had it in for Karjtan when I wasn't watching.

Heh, I've hung Karj out on the flank against Rat Shamans a few times to watch him laugh at their spells. The trick I found to keeping him alive is to proceed deliberately in encounters, in the later one actually backing off a few squares to pull in the archers & not allow mass swarming against Vraes, which can get him kill just as fast. Vince is a glass cannon as well, especially since the TB didn't give Light Blades (which are pretty much thrusting weapons) any armor piercing capability that gets better as armor gets heavier.

What do you think? Is Nightmare mode too easy? Hmm. I usually have no problems on Nightmare, but I've been playing on Nightmare since day 1. I've pretty much understand what mobs need to be hit by this or that person. Vraes is a bonafide miss machine against Cave Spiders, Giant Rats and Deathkin. (When he DOES hit, its usually 50+ and even gotten a non-critical hit of 86 damage). Anyways, I mostly focus on buffing his defenses and planting him as a bottleneck against those. My archer is my main damage dealer. All I do is give her Accuracy and SP. Averages 60 damage a shot. She's a destroyer. My mage is a wuzz. No matter how much I put points in fireballs and relative stats, he hits like a gnat. Kiera is my healer buffer, obviously. Yet, like Vraes, she occasionally hits for serious damage. So, in short. I don't know if its too hard. I find it quite relaxing but I'm VERY biased against any other difficulty. rabid

Yeah but Rabid, you're certifiably nuts, so your form of relaxation would cause other mammals to run and scream (not necessarily in that order).

Hmph. I think it might be a little too early to tell. Due to the fact that people have to replay to test new builds, and because I doubt many people want to constantly do the same content repeatedly it is rather hard to get decent comparisons. There is also the availability of gear. A single good weapon drop for your main damage dealer can quite easily swing the scale from hard all the way to easy depending on a lucky drop.
I personally don't find it too difficult, nor too annoying. If I leave myself open, party members die. Vreas can still easily die in a turn if the enemies aren't debuffed and he is fully healed. But then on the toss side, I *have* played through it a few times now (Something like fourth nm party) and have dabbled with enough builds to learn what works. I also know where the campfires are, which instantly makes any area easier to explore. As further information becomes available (for instance having access to armour and resistance for enemies) will help me further refine my style of play.
My initial thoughts on Act 1, Part 2 is that it does seem a *little* easier than Part 1 in terms of individual fights but that could be because by the end of it every single Ratkin spawn had about a zillion monsters which made nearly every fight a long drawn out endurance match while I've only come across a few fights so far (Temple of Thirteen) which put me in a situation where I could be overwhelmed (open area, lots of monsters spawn close). Please note, I've only just reached Riven Field so only getting my teeth dug in currently.
Either way, two things really. If it is made harder, I'll just learn to play better. Second, the more information you do make available in terms of mechanics do expect the more crunchiest of us to abuse filthily.

I would definitely suggest playing all the way through Episode 1 Act 2 to make a firm decision on this issue. I'm a wuss, I only play on brutal, but I had the same thought as Karjus at the start of E1A2. "This just got much easier." Wait though until the boss fights at the end. There are some nasty surprises waiting and big big fights. My party was doing really well on retrying turns until the end of A2. The Krete are sort of like a cool down lap between the end of E1A2 and the second half of A2. They'll make you get sloppy on your tactics and then suddenly the difficulty will start jumping up again. At least that's what I found in my first play through.

Somewhat figured it would be something like that. But thinking I'll be ready. Finally being able to access Berserk/Meteoric Wave is coming in handy, quickly.

I would be a lot farther in the game, but every time I die, I restart. Nightmare on HoS is suppose to be like nightmare on CK I assume, where when you die that's it, game over man, game over. I have also noticed that depending on the luck you have getting random weapons that too can make a difference on how far you may make it. I would like to get farther into the game, and I know I will when I have a good chance to sit down and spend a few hours on it, but I like the way nightmare is now. It's not to easy that you just go through it like butter and it's hard enough to provide a great challenge and still be fun and enjoyable.
THERE SHOULD BE NO CHANGES TO IT!!! I like it and so would Mikey if he ever stops eating that damn cereal lol.

fallen, we all know that the only reason your brother and you create a new thread is to give slayernz another chance to post a cat photo. Any one that spends that much time looking for pussy pictures must have some sort or problem lol.

Note: Just hit party death 10 in Red Hill Dungeon @ level 14. Vraes got swarmed and everything seemed to get max hits despite a full set of buffs. Bad luck & me stepping out of the doorway.
