Can this get pinned in folder some where easier to find? I got stuck here. I charged and got creamed. Maybe created a pinned folder that just focuses on boss fights?

Just finished the Big V fight and, with the exception of a hitch or two right at the beginning, overall I thought it was fair. Big V himself was a bit anti-climactic after all the trouble of fighting all the way down to his temple and killing all his minions. Once he was vulnerable to attack, I think I killed him in two rounds and took zero damage in the process.
Speaking of anti-climactic, I was underwhelmed by his chest drops, too. Probably I just got unlucky with the drops, but I definitely didn't get anything as good as the armor & shield set I got after killing Vlotgar (Braeysguard and Bonesteel Plate) or even the Bone Finger Ring for saving Valent... I just hope the story item hammer leads to a really sick item down the road (once you find someone to give it to).

Just finished the Big V fight. Got killed on the first entry by going down the middle because I did not see the path to the left to the first foci. After that I gave everyone a +1 piece of gear and used my speed incantations on Vraes to wipe out the foci. Had a few close calls with the chasing mob, but had enough potions to drink to survive. Was a fun go on Normal, don't know how fun it will be next time on a higher level. I blasted my way through the path on the left then turbo charged Vraes with +2 incantation so he had 11 MP which let him run to the first foci and then the second foci just as my rear guard was catching up. They got the extra turn and cleared out the remaining resistance and the race around the track was on After the underforge I was just glad to finally get here Have now completed all episode 2 content so time to see some of what is in ep 3.

All I can say - it was expected. >.> Pulled 3 packs, (from left and right respectively), one wipe and one restart so far. Going slowly through.

Thank you for awesome tips in this thread. I am dealing with this battle now, so I wanted to make sure not to miss loot by finishing before getting it all. As someone mentioned the temple is gone after killing V I am irritated with myself for not fully exploring two of the areas with stairs. I certainly do not want to stop my progress in the battle to go check them now.
I'm using Kincaid, Selen, Fyona, and Vincent. Kincaid is blocking V from following the other three and his talent which blocks the first three hits has kept V from doing any damage. Selen and Vincent kill while Fyona tanks and heals. I had no intention on her healing until I pulled a piece of armor which put her armor level significantly higher than she'd been using. I also pulled some nice gear so she has 20 resist to all. I may just keep Kincaid in front of V the entire time and work the area with Fyona cursing the melee badies while Selen and Vincent kill them with AOE.
This entire episode has been incredible and I have quickly learned that it is okay to pull the team back when 4 trolls are in front of Selen who is wedged with no place to go and three others behind her blocking the way. That is when I appreciate extra move points the most. I have had to back them up one at a time a number of times this episode. I keep threatening to up Kincaid's stealth and let him wind up out front, but I hate charging off into a dark map.

Don't know if it has been mentioned already, but I found an amazing tactic. A Kincaid and Selen combo. You use Kincaids sure parry to **** block Mr. V, and then Selen can slow him down with pinning shot. Made the Smith God seem more like a nuisance, above all else. After that, your other heroes, including Selen after she fires her shot, can hack and slash at the Cultists.

As he don't have much in the sense of MP, I largely ignored him. Occasionally he did catch up, but it was such a rare occurence…

Yep, I think the most successful tactic is to "stay ahead" of him by running forward and killing quickly enough that you can keep moving. Great work!

Frost mage Vincent and Kyera. Slow everything to a crawl and kick back with a couple beers as you leisurely kill off anything that manages to crawl up to you.

First of all I apolagize in advance for necro-ing this thread. I just went through all 8 cult related maps and felt like posting about the fight versus V.
My first attempt was trying to keep moving while getting to the statues as Kyera suggested that we'd have to keep moving. That tactic did not work for me, there were to many mobs for me to deal with from way to many sides so either ranged managed to kill my squishies or basicly anything with 2 ap and 150-ish damage will 2 shot my squishies aswell.
So I decided to *beep* it and just take it slow. This tactic worked fine.
Bossfight starts, position your team, let them come to you, use full array of debuffs/curses on them and then start chipping away at them. Use full debuffs on V the -AP is a must otherwise he will spawn nasty spiders or 2 shot anyone that is not a tank. I had a level 23 party when fighting him and he did like 180-ish damage on my non tank characters which is neglectible. Even though 180 damage is still a lot those characters are at the back and they just drink a health potion to negate the health loss.
So I waited and killed the mobs that start on the screen and just debuffed V. When all mobs except V were dead I would move to a location with a focus statue, deal with the mobs that will spawn while V was making his 1 attack per enemy turn. Make sure to take your time as atleast on normal there is no need to rush. V with 1 ap can not 1 shot your heroes unless they also get attacled by ranged cultists so it is al about positioning. And whenever V was hitting my tank he would miss 9/10 times anyway.
Whenever you destroy a focus the character destroying it will get all of his ap refunded and the whole team will get an extra turn. (time walk ftw) So when you time this right you can make a run and get ahead of V. and thus have like 1-2 turns where he plays catch up while you are dealing with a new team of spawned enemies at a different focus. Do not forget to reapply the -ap curses otherwise he will become a pain.
There are a total of 11 chests (inc. 1 blue and 1 red chest) in the boss area and 2 crytals (1 blue and 1 red).
All in all after having played like 60 hours of this game the stroyline of the spider cult is amazing and very well done, the boss fight is about right, I wish kyera would have given some better advice as "Keep moving" is NOT the way to handle this bossfight. V himself is rather weak I would say, he seems to only have 2 ap and 4 mp and I think he has like 3 abilities... 1: spawn forged pest costs 2 ap, 2: melee hit (aoe) upto 2 targets? costs 1 ap as he performed it while having ap curse. 3: melee hit costs 1 ap. But then again if he were stronger and had a widespread range of abilities it probably would be much harder to do.
All in all great battle, storywise so far the best thing I encountered.
with kind regards,
Rashar.

Rashar - great report and I am glad that you enjoyed the storyline and the boss fight. It is definitely one of my favorite boss scenes in the game as well. With a -AP curse on him, a big part of the challenge is to manage Vurnak while fighting all of the other fights. Yes, he won't one-shot a hero on his own, but if he happens to pick on someone who some ranged cultists are also targeting, then he can be a killer. Some of the easiest times that I have had in the big V fight are when I have "kept moving" and honestly stayed ahead of him the entire time. He is a slow mover, so if you're group is killing and moving forward fast enough, I've had entire fights where he never got in a swing until the final moments. Advice given will often work for one group but not every group. I hope you're enjoying the amount of content in each Episode! Depending on what else you've done in Episode 2, you've got a lot more story ahead of you.

Vurnak himself wasn't a problem. Trying to rush the last few Foci killed me a dozen times. I just let big V play with Kincaid while Tamilin Fyona And Kjartan destroyed the foci. Sure Parry 7 sure was helpful
