Vurnak himself wasn't a problem. Trying to rush the last few Foci killed me a dozen times. I just let big V play with Kincaid while Tamilin Fyona And Kjartan destroyed the foci. Sure Parry 7 sure was helpful Nice, Sure Parry is definitely going to stop old V. Keeping him -AP cursed will also do wonders. That's the intentional balance of the fight -- old V is never that much of a threat if you can manage him, and stay ahead of him.

I know it's intentional. Unfortunately Kincaid had crippling strikes 4 so he couldn't hit Vurnak with -AP I have a question... Clerics? I read that there were Clerics but never saw one.

Massive armor, resistance, and hit points. Spawns new little dudes. Walks right past any melee characters unless you can bottle neck them out. I have a suggestion, either reduce their use, armor/resistance, or hit points. I trained up my group so they're at full power, put +hit gear on Vraes, and still I miss 1-2/3 attacks with Vraes, 1/3 with Selen, and 2/3 with Kjartan. When I do hit my damage range is 16-38 on average with any attack. And they have well more than 150HP (I don't care what the description says). It's like facing 2-3 unhittable giant rats that poop out three more adds while you're killing Spiders of the New Father, ranged cultists and clerics. Everything about spider combat is so tedious that I wanna quit, it's that bad. Thanks for listening to me vent. *takes a deep breathe* Found the post

AA - referring to the cult initiates I imagine? Not sure. Just talking about monsters present in the battle, not a name we used anywhere.

I'm just about done with this fight but before I kill Vurnak, I didn't open all of the chests. Everything else is dead (I think...a couple black areas still out there but all foci are down) so my question is: do I need to run around and open all the chests before I kill him or will I have time to get them after he's dead? The temple is starting to fall apart...just wondering. Thanks!
Also, while I'm thinking about it, I know how to check to see how long all of my buffs/curses are lasting on my characters. Is there a way to see how long my debuffs on the enemies are going to last? Hard to keep track of when EA of Ash are going to end....normally it's not an issue but Vurnak hangs around long enough to wear through a few of them.....

dagger - you'd want to open the chests in advance. There are a few on the main altar you can open after killing Vurnak, but the rest of the spread around the map will not be accessible.

Defeated it on NM mode in one try having never done it before. Was a bit harder than I expected. The hardest part is the very beginning. Right off the bat it feels like they were sending a lot at you. From there just take things slow as you go around the circle. Use lots of potions. I actually didn't loot most the chests because I didn't want to waste the time and because I didn't know you had to loot them or lost them. Can be rough if you accidently move forward too far and spawn a new group early. There seems to be some close triggers at the beginning of the left side. Just had to back up into a kill-zone position until I cleared it all and moved on.
It's definitely an interesting twist because combat rarely every lasts this long. You're expected to chug potions and rebuff multiple times to make it through. The boss himself is VERY nonthreatening. Kyera has the second most health so she just sat in the back and got hit once most turns. Kept boss debuffed with -2 AP from anguish. So just ignored him but kept Kyera far enough back to avoid getting hit by extra stuff. I think it might have been a mistake to push off to the left immediately instead of going forward to wipe out the initial wave. I had never done this before and the path to the left seemed like a logical maneuver to start the circular route. Also I expected the boss to be more scary. Spawning that first left wave and dealing with the initial wave put me in a difficult spot but other than that it was slow and steady.
So yeah, if you've struggled with this just AP debuff boss and slowly kill everything. I think moving forward then going left is the best strategy. There is 2 really close triggers of the far left side I think. I ended up triggering a second wave while simply trying to get melee to hit stuff from first wave.

Once you know what's coming you can cast several charms to prolong the buffs so you don't need to recast them in the midst of battle
