I'm not sure... Are those 10% rules the ONLY point, or just the MINIMUM point of bonus? E.g. with 50 hold, if you have more than 5 metal, do you get more than +5 bonus, or is it only +5? This would be good to know Also, I do believe there is a typo. Doesn't weapons give bonus to blockade, not surveillance? Other than that, that info is incredibly useful!

Brilliant thanks Cory. I did not follow your original reply either but was to scared to ask! I am still not sure on the 10% thing as others have asked, I had thought it was a limit of up to 10%, and I had my engineering officer fixing things ok for me. Seems like it might now be at least 10%. I will have some fun piling on the artefacts to see!

I hope that this is actually capped at some point. I'll need to test by flying with 100 units of artifacts to see if I get an accident every turn

Metals - 10% Hold Metals Provides Mechanical Officer +1 Repair Per Unit Crystals - 10% Hold Crystals Provides Mechanical Officer +0.5 Repair Per Unit
Luxury Rations - Slows Rate of Morale Decline By 2% Per Unit During Water-Fuel Use (3% with First Mate) Vudka - 10% Hold Metals Provides First Mate +1 Crew Boss Per Unit " ^ | typo ?

Nope ... Vudka is the drink of choice in the quadrant. Nobody actually knows what type of alcohol Vudka is - rumor has it that some learned historian researched the name from the ancient archives. He was tossing up between the name Vudka, and the name Hangova. Both seemed to be associated with this beverage. You'll see in the game that almost all references to this drink is Vudka. There is one spelling mistake in the Cache status (Status --> Cargo then scroll down) where it is spelt "Vodka" but that's probably because you as captain aren't renowned for spelling skills - just piloting You'll also note that water-fuel is labelled "Rations".

Luxury Rations - Slows Rate of Morale Decline By 2% Per Unit During Water-Fuel Use (3% with First Mate) Vudka - 10% Hold Metals Provides First Mate +1 Crew Boss Per Unit Spice - Spice Metal - Metal Crystal - Crystal Vodka - Metal Why the heck metal ? I see what you are referring to, the metal after the 10% is a typo I assume, it should be Vudka. Crew boss is most likely some internal variable Cory uses to make checks where you are forcing the crew to do something, and affects moral loss etc. maybe even success of things like boarding and exploring?
The big question as I see it is if the 10% is a limit i.e. up to 10% of the hold is used, or is it a minimum, i.e. you need to have at least 10% and can have up to 100%. I only really tested this on metal with the engineering officer, and still seemed to notice the effect below 10%, but need to retest later in game when there is more damage to the ship to repair. Unfortunately I have not seen a rumour for an engineer for a while.

The owners manual for the escape shuttle is a one-paged tattered oft poorly photocopied page taped onto the windscreen of the shuttle cockpit. It reads: Thank yoo for purhasning the Acme 4100 Escape Shuttle. We hope that it lets you live long enough for a testimonial. - Step 1 - close hatch. This is REALLY REALLY importunt
- Step 2 - push large red button in the middle of the console.
- Step 3 - hold on, close eyes
The Acme 4100 Escape Shuttle comes with a full-replacement guarantee. If for any reason (except forgetting to close your hatch), your shuttle vents atmosphere causing decompression, blood boiling, and death, we at Acme will replace your shuttle with a new one at no charge. Freaking LOL!

I read the lists and posts and I'm hazy on the stats that a military officer gets. There is a Millitary Officer Captain role and an Officer you get that's also named Military Officer. I'm talking about officer. In the description of the Military Officer (Officer) it says that he gives combat bonuses. Do these bonuses include ship-to-ship combat that isn't a boarding action? Do weapons increase the ship-to-ship combat bonus that isn't boarding action?

I believe he effectively boosts your Warrior statistic, just like a Pilot increases, well your Pilot stat. Having the officer influences dice rolls during all types of ship to ship combat that require Warrior, which is definitely boarding actions.

So ... that means ... that means that Military Officer crew member is useless to me as a Stealth, Pilot, Tactics focused SPY (pirate). The fat bastard is taking up empty space!

Thought alot about the 10% and came to the conclusion, that this defines the max. amount. Thats the only variant that makes sense to me.
i.e. Cargo hold 50 means up to 5 units the effectiveness improves gradually and everything beyond is capped.

That's my feeling too Feuerleitsystem ... I used to fly around with only 1 unit of each, but now carry 3. I still find I get enough benefit without cramping my hold with too much of the "Keep my officers happy" crap.
