I have to know! Officers grant bonuses when you carry the appropriate goods in your hold. The question is, how does this work? I'm never sure how much hold space to dedicate to any given officer/good combo. Is it the more the marrier? Should I have 5 of each? 10? 11? Is there some magic number that optimizes the bonuses without waste or should I just go all out and carry as much of whatever good gets me the bonuses I'm after? Since its difficult to measure how much an officer is helping me along I can't seem to pin down the best way to divvy up my hold. I play almost exclusively on impossible these days and fine tuning my operation isn't just a good idea, its a survival trait.

oldalchemist : now I can't get grimlock's voice out of my head XD @tenebrous : sweetness. This question has been plaguing me and no amount of tinkering seems to yield a satisfactory answer.

There's a thread somewhere that went into this pretty well - but damned if I can find it now...
I seem to remember 5 - 10 units of Metals / Crystals / Electronics / Weapons / etc. was giving some people nice results, though "stacking the deck" for mission-specific situations can sometimes help.
I do remember someone saying there's no point in having more Weapons on board than crewmembers, which would make sense.

Cory's said that for number of weapons he tries to carry equates to (Crew - engines) x 2 That way each crew member has two weapons with which to deal to the scum they are up against.
Mind you, I've always wondered why weapons won't help during explore or harvest missions though. I know that against traps guns are not so helpful, but surely when you're coming across the mysterious Argblargle (named after the last sounds typically heard from its victims), having large caliber weapons is a goood thing.

Oh man, I love the idea of weapons helping for exploration and harvesting. Clothing ought to make things more survivable if it includes heavy jackets, environmental suits, and excellent shade hats.
I find most forum posts are better when read as Grimlock or as Foghorn Leghorn.

I'm confused now. By the in-game description, weapons provide a bonus to blockade actions. I personally haven't noticed a difference when boarding, but if there's a specific formula we need to go by, then some extra details would be nice.

@oldalchy: I plan to now read all posts as Foghorn Leghorn (though Droopy strikes me as entertaining as well) slayernz: I intend, I say, I intend to name my first child "Argblargle"

Oh man, Droopy Dog is awesome, but John Stewart has ruined it for me with his Joe Leiberman impression.
Huckleberry Hound, Hong Kong Phooey, Tennessee Tuxedo, and Snagglepuss are all excellent filters as well.

except for weapons, I thought it was "3" for crystals/metals/records/electronics this may have been a minimum tho. I'm not sure

I beleive 3 of each was simply the amount someone carried at all times.
