Calling those updates a "nerf" of Selen would be a bit of an exaggeration.
I disagree with the advice to save Talent points, it isn't worth it.

Calling those updates a "nerf" of Selen would be a bit of an exaggeration. I disagree with the advice to save Talent points, it isn't worth it. True, I just showed a way to totally invalidate it as a "nerf" or "balance" by taking a real minor hit in combat capability until level 12...when it really doesn't matter at all since so few dice are being thrown by anybody. It depends if you want Selen as an off tank in the late teen levels. Selen does kick some serious arse doing that then, most turns even better than Vraes, most especially against ranged NPC swarms...but suffers from the lack of hit points, which means she can get one turn killed as fast as any of the rest of the squishies. 30 Dodge is nice, but "wham, bam, thank you ma'am" happens every few fights leading to the infamous Restore or Retry screen. Swapping 7 Dodge & Parry for 5 Stealth just doesn't do the same defensively (equivalent level 11 points spent) If you want her as a shooter or a dance in and out of melee type, then I agree with your position Cory. I'm actually using my second Selen that way, mainly because she is my only AoE attacker, but also because I don't have any -AP debuffs, more swings on her, more hits, more squish, but I'm planning on graduating her up to second rank melee. You are correct in one sense, by the time the characters are 40th or 50th level, the way points are spent before 18th don't really matter so much. You are incorrect in another sense, at least for me, since the relatively huge and increasing amount of time between levels in and around 20 means that misspent points or playing games with tactics = even more time between levels to fix the error. It hurts to play my standard party, mainly because what was a reasonable investment of EA3 for AoE becomes a nasty Spirit drain for a one target spell with minimal benefits. Upping it to EA4 to regain AoE has only hurt more because of so many NPCs falling into diagonal formations, which means faster Spirit burn and again slower levelling. Which will get fixed as the characters level....eventually...and then will be nice. Heh, those are the only three Talent points I wish I could have back, including comparing my screwed up Kyera build in my Vince-Selen party, which would take lots of Stats & Skills to fix....mainly because her Talents are good. Hmmm, interesting thought there. True, some of this comes from playing on NM, but on Normal, let alone Easy...it's not fun.

Thanks algesan and contributor for the great suggestions! And I was thinking about using punishing blade for Selen because it reduce ennemy damage (and so with 2 ap dual wielding to curse more ennemy, because for the moment all my heroes use 3 ap weapon), and to use the pureflame shield of Kjartan for the armor and elemental resist bonuse. (and of course I will continue to develop a lot Fyonas shield of Cortias). But I'm not sure, what do you think of those 2 spells (punishing blade and pureflame shield)? Because I have the feeling that nobody use them actually... And I think that I will just have to accept that Selen can't be a tank like Vraes, and that she has to be a skirmischer...
