The Star Traders are weary, the Colony Hives are low on fuel and precious supplies. The main Exodus was lost years ago . . .
Finally the decision is passed down - we have to stop. Survey the nearest solar systems and each Colony Hive will head to one. With three changes, we should be able to make a new home. And - the Factionites will build their own way of life, not live in an integrated way on a single system.
And so it begins ...
=====
Questions to answer: 1. How quickly after colonizing your first three worlds to you build your next colony ship? 2. Once you have 4, how quickly do you got 5 and 6? 3. What is your pace of colonization after the first half dozen? 4. The next update will include Adv Space Colonization techs that allow you to set down Colonies that start to look more like your original 3 Hive (better!). What are the attributes you'd be most excited to see in a new Colony?

I see that Epsilon Indi, a real star system about 12 LY away, is actually named in the game. I know the FarFallen Rift isn't an actual thing but assuming that is not the real ϵ indi, any idea how far the exodus has come from Earth and its core colonies?

Many of the start system names were picked almost a decade ago.
There is no intentional relationship to any stars local to Sol.
No Star Trader would have the foggiest idea what or where Earth is.

What are the attributes you'd be most excited to see in a new Colony? 1: It takes quite some time, maybe 20+ turns. I do it slowly, making sure my planets are in good shape and making me an income before I send out colonists. I send them out when my pop reaches 6 or 7. 2: I get to 5 and 6 relatively quickly (maybe 10 turns?) as my initial three worlds still gain pop at maybe 1 per 10-15 turns. In fact, they're generally my colony/economy machines at that point, and the main hub for making ships while I try to get the new ones to grow. 3: I haven't gotten there yet-- I've been busy and focusing on maybe three colonies at a time before worrying about making more of them. 4: I wouldn't ask for a huge bonuses, but I'd like to see enough factories to make building new habitats reasonable (maybe 3 turns or so) for new planets, especially on DeValtos colonies.

What are the attributes you'd be most excited to see in a new Colony? My rate of expansion is always the same: 3 initial colonies when they build 3 of everything (for DV, it is 2 factories/mines and 4 habs) they build a colony ship and spread out. Repeat for the new colonies. 4. Each colony ship should be based on who made it. DV should start with extra Habs, Cadar with factories, rychart more balanced?

To answer my own question:
1. As soon as Cadar Prime has its first mine installed, I build my first colony ship. 2. I like 6 colonies as my starting point to really set up a strong bustling economy. So, within the next 15 turns, I will have 5 & 6. 3. Then I wait until I am set, make sure they xeno are not going to rush me and properly get my colonies up to 6-8 Pop. Then I start a new period of expansion. 4. Hab units please!

I just expand when I feel like it, but usually after I set up 2-3 Mines and 1-2 Habs on each world.

The really strange thing about my current game on easy difficulty, small map. All three colonies have population of 1 and housing 2. For 13 AE there has never been an increase in population on any of the three colonies. 2. Six colonies seem pretty risky on a small map, as enemy contact will be more likely. I try to "back fill", colonize any planets behind already established colonies instead of moving them farther out. 3. Here I could use a little advice. You are trying to get set and the Xeno do rush you, what do you do then? What is getting set, building a navy? 4. Would you research Hab 2 asap?

I usually get myself a good base where I feel comfortable supporting the new colony AND dealing with unexpected population explosions on my current ones. usually a couple mines and factories so I am making a few hundred credits per turn and then pump out two or three more colonies (usually cadar for their CP bonus) and build them up, sometimes faster and bigger than the originals lol

I expand pretty quickly as I've found that income comes in a lot faster with more planets in the equation. Get two mines or more on 6+ planets and you're definitely able to build a nice economy.
So for 1, CadaI r seems to be able to build faster from the get go so I build mine then colony ship. For 2, get mine on each and check population. If not crowded, next colony ship is built. While the shops fly to New systems I have time to upgrade Cadar

Ej: Just started a game, a few turns in Del Vatos is at 3 population and Cadar is 1 still. 2. After I stabilize a bit the first colony.When it gets around 3 population and I have already built a second factory on it. 3. Never got this far, usually I'm already having trouble with Del Vatos on overpopulation and maintenance costs. 4. Starting numbers around 2 pop, 1 mine and a factory sustaining the 2 pop.
