Also, if you look at the same for Speed, I think your Sails/Hulls is inverted that is an awesome chart! higher number should mean more agility right? :-) it took me a second to figure out what you meant, but it makes total sense

ok I found a few ships off by one, Cory might be able to shed a light as to why, I am guessing the xls is incorrect but not for sure. yeah, i spent almost zero time on data cleaning. i know myself, i could get sucked into that for hours. i want to stay focused on building a good system for displaying data

If you want some help cleaning let me know, I already took a copy of your excel sheet to fix/add ships for my own use and would gladly do it to yours instead if you wished. See? I can help!

Funny stat -
Best Torpedo ship in the game?? Fighter.... Stats: Hull:5 Armor:2 Engines:10 Solar Sails:12 Crew:16 Cargo:6 Guns:10 Torpedos:2
2 torpedos and 5 hull - completely useless as torpedoer right?? Check it out after a few mods....
Fighter Hull:5 Amor: 4 Engines:16 Sails:18 Torpedos:16
Agility is now a ridiculous 3.2 Speed is an even more ridiculous 3.4 And you have 16 torpedoes to hammer away with.
Granted... just don't miss. However with those stats you should be incredably difficult to hit with a torpedo OR move up on.
************** hmmm it would appear that that ship no longer exists......

Totally awesome work, makes it so easy to shop for ships and plunder planets! I was wondering if it was possible to add a frame/popup/click link/table to see all the stats of the planet/ship you have selected or filtered down to? Some ships look too good to be true, there must be a nerf somewhere ...
Thanks again

Rabid Rabbit stared at the chart laid out in front of him, "And this thing is accurate?" He asked then Star Trader across from him in the Spice Hall.
"I guarantee it. Is up to date, annotated, indexed, sphere of control color coded ... think you will find it very useful. I only ask for the mentioned fee."
Rabid was honestly impressed. It wasn't every day someone handed you a map of the darn quadrant with up to date information, and analysis of resources.
Rabid looked up at the Star Trader. The man was obviously selling many of these, and Rabid understood what that meant. Those who didn't have one of these good solid maps, or equivalent, were headed straight for a net loss in the near future.
Rabid gave a nod to his purser. The purser extended a credit chit to the Star Trader, who's eyes held quiet satisfaction.
"I don't have to threaten you right?" Rabid Rabbit asked conversation like.
"No of course not. Pleasure doing busine..." the trader's words stopped mid sentence as Rabid Rabbit put the long bladed chainsaw across his lap.
"Do you understand the gravity of the situation you will be in, if this is some little hoax you're pulling?"
"You'll kill me," the trader said the words with certainty, but Rabid could tell the other side of the message, was 'if you find me'. That didn't bode well for the reliability of the map. But, his contacts had been specific that this merchant DID have a reliable map.
Rabid tilted his head, "There's another map, isn't there? The one with the real up to date information. This is the sucker's map. The one you give idiots or marks. Give me the other map."
The Star Trader smiled a bit, "I'm not sure you ..."
Bonnie, to Rabid's left and a few feet away, called out, "We need a Doctor here!"
The Star Trader glanced about, "Who is h.." The scream of the chainsaw stopped his words, just before the jagged bladed meat grinder removed his left arm at the elbow with a satisfying crunch where meat and bone combined.
The Hall Froze in stupefaction as the Star Trader rolled while sprouting blood all over. Rabid Rabbit crouched, "Sorry about that chump, but I'm kind of impatient and I think you'll take me seriously from now on."
Slowly Rabid Rabbit a fixes a Jason Hockey mask on his face, " Tell me about the real map you big baby. It's only a flesh wound."

Captain Crushrabbit gives the limp body a quick kick. Nothing happens. “Well an’ truly dead, ain’t ‘ee?” says the spicer. “Yes, I noticed that. I did it for fun.” replies Captain Crushrabbit. The spicer gulps. The captain observes the blood-splattered walls. “A chainsaw did this.” “Yep, A saw i’ wiv me own eyes…” the spicer exclaims, “i’ sure weren’t pr”
BANG
The spicer drops to the floor dead. “Thanks for the insightful comments”, Captain Crushrabbit replies while blowing the smoke away from the barrel of his revolver.

xposted from another section of the forum, makes more sense here. charts.startradersrpg.com/as i got deeper into the game again i started messing around with those old motion charts i made. i dropped in the updated spreadsheet i got from here. then i loaded it into an external webpage so i could add a few fields to the page. i dropped in a simple bitly script so you can now generate a link to any chart configuration you make. in other words, as you play with the four fields that are graphed (x-axis, y-axis, size, and color) you can create a link that saves that chart state by simply clicking the Create Custom Chart Link button. by posting that link here, we can click it and see your chart. making changes to the chart won't ever affect any of the links people post because the link is one unalterable saved state. it also lets you bookmark the charts that are most useful for your playing style. you can see some of my bookmarks across the top. i added the query field as an easy way to filter the data. well, its easy if you know sql you can see i trimmed out the outliers such as aliens because they dominate every single chart but they are never the useful data points. you can easily add them back in or restrict it further by making/modifying your own query. every field on the chart can be put into the query (Sails, Engines, Guns, etc) and all the basic standard sql statement work. you can see the documentation here: developers.google.com/chart/interactive/docs/querylanguage#Language_Syntaxeven better, the query also gets saved into the bitly url, so you can truly set up and share any chart you want. i want to plug in planets data as well. all i have to do is change the spreadsheet id. i need to track down the most up-to-date planet data first. i am tempted to add a field for spreadsheet id as well, since i built this as a flexible tool for viewing any google spreadsheet. this would allow other people to plug in their own spreadsheets when i inevitably wander off again. my goal with this is to basically crowd-source good data analysis. there are a hundred ways to find really useful data points i will never think of. this way the most useful charts will be identified as we collaborate. there are plenty of nuances to strategy i have yet to master, particularly combat, that this could be really helpful to understand. speaking of which: those links across the top reflect my current understanding of what are actually the most important parameters related to those activities. i would love input on whether those are actually the most useful. i'm glad to swap those links out, if someone makes a better Boarding chart for instance. i picked up this domain last year since i saw it wasn't taken and i didn't want someone to snatch it before cory got to it. i pointed it at his website but we never got around to getting it transferred and set up properly. so i thought, why not use a subdomain? obviously i've been doing all this stuff for a long time so its fast and easy for me, with a lot of payoffs. why sink this many hours into a wonderfully nuanced game without taking a little time to optimize my decisions? this saves me more time than it costs me. it will definitely save you guys some time. btw cory, its awesome to see the new data curves in your ship balancing algorithm ;D

Seriously -- Wow. Nice work. The ones I make in excel to try to see this are way less cool. Impressed! You know what would be really nice would be to be able to see these in the game, at least once you've visited all the planets.

Sorry pokerjunky for resurrecting a dead thread, but I'm wondering if this info in still accurate. Has it been updated since 2012?
