Its to help prevent voting manipulation by botnets. It's to help increase the financial coffers of Steam, did you say, dayan? So do I have to buy a game, to vote for TB? That would restrict TB's votes, to those that can afford to pay. <sound of @cig, pumping shotgun>

LOL - i KNEW it A crab robot none-the-less! Definately feeling "crabbie", at the moment, cos I want to vote "YES" to ST4x, and Steam says NO! <sounds of @cig warming up the torp launchers, with Steam in mind>

Would it be correct to say @cig is steamed at Steam. He'll need clearance for a full attack. Geek status reinstated. Go get'em :-)

fallen. Just to say. Yes. No good on low end phones. I went for a quick look again, and couldn't find out how to End Turn. It's like HoS. The game control icons are not loading.

I don't know why @cig is warming up the torpedoes. Any Cadar captain will tell you they are best served cold. But maybe that's why so many of them miss?
The restriction kinda makes sense, as no bot-maker will pay out the money, but there should be another way, because it could also be seen as forcing people to buy something as has been pointed out (with some emphasis!)
I will not be able to get onto Steam for a few days (I have bought some games so I can vote) how long do we have? Does the vote stay open for a week or so?

I bought Heroes Of Steel off Desura. If I'd bought it off STEAM, it would have meant, I could already vote. Now I'm gonna have to HACK Steam's accounting system, with my Phracking Kit + 6. (Joking. Don't try this at home, peeps).

I didn't realize a purchase is required to vote, but it makes sense.
Otherwise people would sell votes just like they sell reviews.
Although, I hear Apple is cracking down on people who purchased them by the thousands.

But it means, I have to pay, for a game I don't want, from another dev, so I can vote, for a game, I DO want, from a completely different dev. And the money I have to spend, could have gone towards ST4x PC. I kinda resent that. Though I've heard, peeps used to "buy" free games off Steam, to get round the prob. Don't know if joining a "free to play", MMO, would work?

Although, I hear Apple is cracking down on people who purchased them by the thousands. This already happens on Reddit and Facebook as an offical service. I heard of rumors on google play as well but nothing solid. Its supposed to increase demand by lying about peer interest in the product. It plays merry hell with market research figures, and ultimately kicks the product producer in the ass because of bad market data, making them that much more out of touch with what the customer wants.

There are no "official" services selling reviews on iTunes as it violates the TOS and results in a developer ban. Apple does appear to be using some automated system to detect and remove paid reviews. Several applications we compete with lost thousands of fake reviews over the past few days.

Ah, Yelp gets in trouble for fake reviews, i meant plus 1s and upvotes too now that I think of it. I can definitely see botnet fraud being a problem too. People don't realize its ultimately bad for everyone, even their own business when they pull stunts like that.
