...Sorry tenbsmith. I uploaded them right from Steam, so that's interesting. The first one was Imgur, but doing that from Steam screenshots is difficult for me... I had to take a pic with my phone of my laptop, then upload it, then put here WITH my laptop. Imgur screwed their app over major.

Ahh, I'm sure work is blocking steam, that's my problem. FYI, most laptops have a print screen button, but that soul take more steps.

tenbsmith for some reason, that doesn't work while I'm in Steam. The only way to do it is in game... Unless I figure it out

I'm resurrecting my old thread... Keeping in mind that I get enough challenge from Normal, my designs are perfect for the games I play, but you may need to tweak them to your own needs. First up in (hopefully) in a long series of my veteran, well oiled designs: I give you the Longpoint Cruiser. It is a torp boat first and foremost, and this early version has been instrumental in holding back a wide front war against 3 different Xeno types on the Garden. This is a relatively inexpensive craft to build and maintain, running about par for Cruiser Class ships. Perfect for the early game, I have 3 different Longpoints over 20XP, and they are the reapers of my squadron. Well impressed with these, excellent designs and great info and tips on use. Cheers, En1gma

Need some serious armor? Check out this Cruiser. This baby is sitting on 23 armor right now, with a 30-45 Damage Railgun for a bite that rivals its staying power in combat. Extra repair helps it quickly recover from any damage it sustains in combat.

I've been using a heavily armored war barge backed up by Alta Mesa fighters equipped with the heaviest torps that'll fit.
Although I'll admit I'm not entirely comfortable with this,it doesn't feel quite right, like I'm missing something...

I usually design my Cruisers in such a way that they can stay fighting also without waterfuel. So only the "Barrage" training for the Railgun + Torpedo Training that uses waterfuel.
I'd prefer it more the other way around: no wf usage for Torpedos therefor some heavier ability for Railrun, but that's apparently not possible.

Well, I do both honestly. Maybe my post was lacking "early game". When I'm still short on cash, but need some "bigger guns" then I find these to be quite handy. Once my economy is strong enough and I start with invasion operations, then I also have a fleet of refuel ships and once I have those I also use the stronmger abilities.
Where those above mentioned cruisers come quite handy (imo) is quite early game when I want to put pressure on AI and fight near their planets without those supply ships. Not having to redraw intact ships because of waterfuel shortage is worth it for me at least.

Regarding "Refuel carriers", can you build a chain of carriers from your planet all the way to the xeno colonies and transfer fuel that way?

No. I've read here that folks were doing that at one time, but not any more, because carriers can no longer refuel other carriers. Now that we have the Multi-Refuel training, if carriers could still refuel carriers it would open the door for a huge fuel manufacturing exploit.

But what you can do is have a conveyor belt of tankers with a few actively refueling your combat ships, some moving up towards the front lines, some retreating to a nearby world, and some at that world refilling themselves in green spots.

Sorry, I didn't realize that was what you meant by chain. Yes that would definitely work. What I'd envisioned is more like a the Bucket Brigade of tankers.
