resistor I remember playing one of those games on PS2 like ten years ago complete blast...then my friend moved to Texas while he was borrowing my PS2. Remind me now of all those hours of SOCOM on a good old tube TV.

resistor - haven't played Armored Core here. What's unique about its team based multiplayer? I'll put it as simply as I can...
Rather than something like matchmaking in Halo or CoD, for example, where players are put on teams with just anyone, players form permanent teams in AC:VD with a cap of 20 players. It helps to be on an active and large team so that you won't have to wait a while for one of your teammates to log in to go on a "sortie", but you can just fill in your teammates shoes with programmable/customizable bots called UNACs. Online multiplayer team battles are 4(+1) vs. 4(+1) where there is no respawning and you win by exterminating the enemy team (although there is sometimes a second way to win). The reason I say 4(+1) is because there are 4 armored cores on each team, but there can be a fifth player being an "operator", someone who has a birds eye view of the battlefield and can offer tactical information about the enemies' circumstances. Operators aren't really necessary to win though, and my team often plays without one.

Most of the reviews I've seen, that don't come some rabid fanboys/girls, say the new CoD has very little to offer, beyond jetpacks. In Multiplayer, a lot of the negative critique focuses on the 'random spawning' in Deathmatches, and the almost no teamwork that can be achieved by it. Plus, Capture the Flag matches are very rare. People don't usually queue for them. To be honest, I felt I dodged a bullet with: Destiny (and its DLC story destroying silliness plus its awful loot rules) and now with CoD: Adv. War and its lack of evolution. Though, I have to say, Kevin Spacey is ... God. He is one of my favorite actors of all time. rabid

Remind me now of all those hours of SOCOM on a good old tube TV. I haven't played any Armored Core games in the original Xbox/PS2 era. The first Armored Core game I've played was AC4. Then the next game after that, AC: For Answer, was the best single player AC game I've ever played. I didn't really play Armored Core V (the roman numeral for 5) because I thought it was terrible for several reasons, although I believe this was when the team based multiplayer was introduced. Nowadays I hardly play any game but AC: Verdict Day.

I'm not even going to bother considering getting CoD... or perhaps any other console game ever again that isn't Armored Core. I seriously don't even care to play anything else most of the time.

I haven't purchased Shadowrun Dragonfall because I'm hoping it will get cheaper. ($10 would be awesome). rabid

rabidbite : if you buy dragonfall, make sure you buy the director's cut version, it's around the same price but it's really better (you can manage the character sheet of your allies (sort of : you choose a general direction when you achieve a major mission)) The story is the same but it's so much better to play

Amongst the 50 or so games that I play on-off in spurts, my main focus at the moment is on leveling up in the Bellkeeper covenant in Dark Souls II. I have a rule where I wait to be spawned into someone's world to beat them senseless and stop them reaching the boss as you do, but I leave a summon sign right outside the fog gate after each time I'm returned to my own world... If they can survive my invasion and then summon me in before I'm drawn to them again, I will accept their tenacity, bow with respect, and assist in destroying the 5 (!) Belfry Gargoyles that await them on the other side of the fog.

Right now I play a lot of "Shadow of Mordor" . Great game. Good story, a lot (a huge lot to be honest...) of sidequests, some nice moves for the main character... It's really fun.
