I fully intend to support the project, although I probably won't be able to put much towards it. Still, Trese Brothers deserves support. You do good work.
Respectfully,

Im all over this. Even though I'm ending Shadow of Shalun(talk about an unfortunate acronym), I still have that sense of "Go Fever" I get when playing. Especially with this news.

Are the crews going to be much smaller then? No more throwing mooks to the wolves for explorers? If you look at amazing games like Dwarf Fortress, I don't think that the two concepts are mutually exclusive.

Same here, not sure if I'll be able to dish out another $500 to you guys this time around though haha. ST2 will be amazingly fun if we see the progression you guys have made in your games, ST4X and HoS are both amazing games!
I, too, would be curious to hear just what you guys plan on doing with the crews. If you make it smaller and more streamlined it might add a lot of character to the game.

'Smaller and more streamlined' is a phrase that's the bane of my gaming life.
Every Elder Scrolls game that comes out has less and less skills, Dragon Age went from being a strategy pause-battle RPG (similar to Baldur's Gate) to a fixed third person hack 'em up, Thief devolved from a proper stealth free form experience into a game with set pieces and action, Hitman miniaturised, split up and largely linearized it's levels, Rainbow Six went from strategy pre-battle map planning a six man SWAT team to a procedural set-piece action shooter...
I don't know if, like comparing children's cartoons and books of yesteryear to those of today, the developers of today think we're too stupid to understand how to take everything in, or the developers themselves have gotten younger and more stupid and just churn out simplified crap.
I don't know.
But I do know that, where strategy and role playing games are concerned, deeper, bigger, more involved and more control is much more involving and more fun.
Cutting things down and streamlining is not.

Captain a ship, hand-pick a crew, and roam freely through a massive universe with freedom to choose how and when to approach your goals.

Nicely said mataeus! I am certainly looking forward to more character driven RPG elements in ST2. With ST1, I feel like other than choosing what you want to do, there is very little RPG feel overall, since the character itself is just stats management. Are there going to be any story driven missions like the Sveet campaign in AoP?

athios - when the full pitch is released, it should become clear. But yes, we're hoping to include story arcs in the game.

Sounds great! Even though I am a 4x fan and haven’t played the original RPG, I am looking forward to anyway to get involved and help you guys as you create great games. Will alpha access be a pledge level again and if so will it be available on all devices? Also how does Alpha game distribution work if it is not available on the markets and in the last project you weren’t able to provide free copies? If I am getting ahead of things and should wait until you guys have a chance to release the list feel free to swat me on the nose

huckleberry - we're glad to have your support! Alpha Access will be a pledge level, and we will make sure its available for all the platforms on which people want to play (iOS, Android, PC). In the last 1.5 years, lots of things have changed in our technology stack and how the markets operate, so we will be able to offer copies of the game in the reward tiers!

What about letting it be til the 2nd of October?
Since most people get their paychecks either on the 30th or the 1st...
