When reviewing new ships available at the Docks, there are two ship parameters which aren't presented anywhere else: "Deep Sea" and "Shoreline". However their value is always "0,20", for every ship I've ever seen. What do they do?

grzechol : I think it means how many rations you use when you sail near the shores (shoreline) or when traveling between shores (deep sea).

There's a Quartermaster's Report in the ship stats. It says I use 0,37 Rations / Week, not 0,20. Maybe 0,20 is a base value modified later by crew size, wind direction and so on, but if the base is constant (0,20) for every ship, then why is it displayed? It seems to be completely useless.

I don't know for sure...maybe fallen could explain more...

The rate is different for ships. it is based on difficulty and then modified by the ship's attributes and any damage to it.
I have taken #AOP-2680 to investigate why it is not working in the compare screen.

deep sea and shore line are to parameters that actually affects the tacking and running. It's also the base for ration consumption like the naval galleon having deep sea 1.1-8 affects the taking, and the shoreline has 0.5-8 affects the running. I'm using a Naval Galleon

fallenCory TreseIn the quartermaster's report is displayed a weekly ratio and two ranges. What are the units of measure being described? And what is being totalled to yield the "combined" range? Thanx.

Just purchased the game after loving the free version, but came here looking for all answer to this yet still confused.
Running, Tracking, Deep sea and s Shoreline are meaningless to me because I don't Joe what they do? Did we confirm here that deep sea and shoreline are intended to show ration usage rates?
Reading through other posts it seems there's an intention of being vague about stats, but I personally find an unexplained ratio to be more frustrating than anything..
That said, fun game I love playing on the subway (no service for web games, so this is perfect!), will check out all these other games I'm reading about as well!

On the map, you'll see different colors of water. Your ship will have different efficiency depending on if you are open ocean or using coastal currents.
That is what those values are for, they determine ration use as well as turns consumed. Combine those with wind direction and rumors to get the file rates.

Thanks - and I'm impressed at the quick answer from the dev himself!
