squee, ncaoa:
Greetings, fellow Songs. I have created this sacred space to better unify our melodies and harmonize our call.
May our Song ring true and our enemies know fear, brethren!!

And so, to business.
There are a few important things I know you both are all ready aware of, but I'll list them out again so you can see what guidelines my suggestions follow:
1: According to our Templar Commander (/short bow in johndramey's direction), our Hives have landed in the North-West corner of this space sector. These galaxies then have Tennath near the top of the sector of known space and Salveria facing unknown space with unknown enemy life forms.
2: According to the Templar space charts, this sector of space is quite large, but fortunately can only support one enemy lifeform at this time.
3: If we occupy the NW corner of this sector, the Xeno threat can be either South or East, and by the fact that they have not sent any scouts yet, they must be some distance away. Remember how the Xeno chasing us on the Great Exodus would stop and turn away as we crossed sector-to-sector, and eventually the next Xeno would catch up and begin their attack? That is classic predator behavior-- stop on the outside of another predator's territory. I suspect we are on the outside edge of predator territory here.
4: With all that in mind, let us look to our strengths: the Steel Song are the strongest military branch of the Houses and we know that colonizing a system means colonizing it with defenses (something the other Houses clearly lack to their own detriment). These immediate defenses make it much more useful for us to be a bit further out from the center than the Poodle-Lions or the Mole-Cats, and while we don't have much use for minerals we do need some decent quality systems for trade and manufacturing. Not as much as the Poodles making beautiful clothes for themselves instead of useful ships or crew, but decent quality nonetheless.
5: If we need A) a forward location (but not too forward as to let the Moles and Poodles destroy us all), B) a decent system and C) a solid base for further scouting and repairs while the Poodles and Moles drool over rocks and bits of yarn, I would suggest either the Salveria or Traggath systems.
