My ability to raise an attribute has been greyed out as well. Have 15xp to spend and the attribute only needs 6 to raise it.

My ability to raise an attribute has been greyed out as well. Have 15xp to spend and the attribute only needs 6 to raise it. I'm having the same issue too and I just started on stupid hard mode, I'm stuck at 4 dex as a gunslinger, not a good thing. 4 str 4 bd 4dex uhh wha ever the other 3 are at, those are base atm. Trying to pump dex as I said.

moof and nails - sorry to keep asking for the same thing, but can you post your stats (all of them), your current XP, and the configuration of the buttons (disabed/enabled). Also, short character history (ie. started as of release xxxx) would really help us fix these problems. We are dedicated to resolving!

Started last patch don't know the update numbers... 4 bod 2 mind 4 str. 2 int? 4 dex 3 cha? I can only upgrade bod and mind right now as the others are blacked out. And having 74 xp is more than enough to get the stat(12 pts I think to increase dex) I'm on what ever the 2nd hardest difficulty is on for this guy. But I double checked with my other character who was started ages ago and he cankt upgrade most ofhis stuff either. This is one of those gamebreaking bugs. Hope it can get fixed.

Also while you're looking. Check to see if there is a bug with heat from sniper attacks AND why I can't check the number value on my actual heat because I went from zero heat to full bars after one random encounter and I have like 200 rep with los val in that territory in which it happened.

Body 3 Mind 2 Str 3 Int 1 Dex 2 Per 2
Just started a new character on the first release of elite XP ready is 15, spent is 28 When I first posted, it was perception that was greyed out (need 6 to improve), but now strength is out as well (10 to improve)

Just raise your stat until it is greater.
4 bod 2 mind [raise bod to 5 (aka, greater than str / dex)] 4 str. 2 int? 4 dex 3 cha?
I wouldn't expect any of those stats to be raise able -- str and dex are equal to body and same with int and cha.
I do not see a bug, much less a "game breaking bug."
My play time on CK is pretty solid and I'm leveling up at least one character per day. Haven't have any issues with the XP system aside from poor documentation.
1. does it give you good feedback why it isn't let you raise? NO 2. does it provide differentiation between XP spend and attribute limits? NO 3. does it explain what factors are used to calculate the XP cost? NO 4. does it have the user interface I would like to have? Not even Close
So, all in all -- I suppose I agree that it is a game breaker (really bad, but key, interfaces.) Is there a bug? Not that I can see (yet.) Since I've looked and looked and looked I'm focused on other things right now, but will definitely return to this as soon as there is a post with unexplained results.

So our body has to be of equal or greater value before we can upgrade str or dex? When did that happen? Also you said the same thing with mind for int and cha?

moof - clarification. Your BODY has to be greater than Str / Dex. Therefore, if body = 4, you cannot raise Str / Dex. nails - correct. Your body is 3, your strength is 3. Raise your Body to 4, STR will ungray. Thanks for posting your stats -- that makes this a lot easier. I don't see any bugs!

moof -- that change to effect here: 7/23/2011 - v0.1.41 - New Starting Character Stats - New XP Equation for Attributes Essentially we made the rule consistent MIND and BODY and instead of using the complex scale we were using before, we adopted a very SR3 "greater than" equation. Driving the character to raise BODY/MIND is optimally the drive to specialize the character's attributes. This early in the game design nothing is sacred and all rules are up for discussion but the equation does serve an important goal.

I was under the asumption that body was your characters natural health strength is well used for physical damage and dex for dodgeand to hit wit guns, I had no idea it was intended to have str and dex be sub sub_attributes of body.

There is a big missing part here, a couple of things I listed above, once fixed, I think will do a lot to improve it. Just explaining why a button is grayed out, or what the stat is for will go a long way to improving the game.
once we're leveling multiple characters i think the key attributes and various specialization options it yields will open up a lot of replay.
