From discord @frib: Frib - Today at 1:50 PM what could be the reason when an accepted mission doesn't show up in the mission list? Frib - Today at 1:53 PM it shows up in the event log bottom right more than meets the eye that's the name Frib - Today at 1:52 PM there was dialogue that they were on board Frib - Today at 1:53 PM the log says I accepted it or is there a second step? Netu - Today at 1:54 PM  @frib This is interesting. The mission should be in your log no matter what upon acceptance. Frib - Today at 2:05 PM the mission involved moving two passengers somewhere and having them infiltrate a building, and the dialogue when they got on board was that my crew found them scary and they seemed like stone cold killers MintDragon - Today at 2:05 PM thx for the screenshots Frib - Today at 2:05 PM and then the mission vanished cdn.discordapp.com/attachments/444590378264559626/444590615196336128/unknown.pngcdn.discordapp.com/attachments/444590378264559626/444590672859627540/unknown.png

Dudecasey - Today at 5:27 PM the one 100% fluff mechanic I'd like added in regards to crew and such is a randomizer button for appearances lol
MintDragon - Today at 5:41 PM yah, from the 'visuals' screen, having a randomizer button would be cool. faces/uniform/hat/glasses/armband mixer kind of thing I'll toss it into the forum

I think part of the reason for unclear timeline "deadlines" is because the Era transition is somewhat dynamic. Missions that you are doing, other conflicts ongoing & concluded will all have impact on the storyline. Story missions are already specially marked, I believe with a green border or something like that, and have an Open Book icon next to them. MintDragon , if you check the Rumors screen, it should have an entry on what Era it currently is, and list what the special effects are. If you don't see one, then you might still be in the default state at game start... Wow. Didn't even notice. Thx for the guidance 👍

Hi Mint, I think someone put it really well regarding encounters. When they talked about "prioritisation" in displaying info. TB seem to be working on that aspect in polishing the post encounter screen, so some prioritisation of visual displays on eras and info displayed in the spice hall could be a good idea. I suggested a while back that news items in the spicehall could be colour-coded, eg. yellow for start f conflict, red for contact death. You could also have a headline describing the era in progress, or the one just finished. yah, I had put up a post suggesting putting the faction flags up for each relevant news items, so one could quickly scan the news for items that impacted factions of interest. (ex. Thulun won the Trade Alliance over Cadar would have their faction flags at the start of the bullet point) original thread: startradersrpg.proboards.com/post/200234/thread

Well thought out feedback Aesop. One thing I'd add is that I scratch my head when coming back to 'older games', wondering what Era the current game state is in. Obviously, check the maps, any current missions, faction standings, etc..., but then am trying to decipher what Era is currently playing out based on turn count/date (should I check in on the Arbiter? should I check in with Faen?, etc...).
Perhaps a reference in the spice hall news, or and Era 'indicator' in the rumor list would help.
Just 2 cents (and before coffee), so feel free to slap me down if it's not useful input.
EDIT: The story text that describes the Era (positives, negatives, what to expect) when the start of an Era occurs would be really helpful to have as part of wherever one could reference the current Era; also maybe put the date of when the Era began as well? So we could deduce how far into said Era the current game state is in.

from turk on discord: Turk - Today at 12:38 PM @trese Brothers so occasionally I get boarded after having successfully retreated. Is that an artifact of the turn based system? Meaning every turn has to full resolve? Cause it doesn't seem right to get sucked into CC after ship combat is concluded MintDragon - Today at 12:50 PM turk sounds like the AI is using a longer range boarding talent to board you not sure if it's listed in a battle log yet or not but keep in mind that Cory keeps making the AI smarter, especially on harder difficulties (duh) Turk - Today at 12:51 PM Yeah it's a talented boarding. But I just don't really get the combat apparently resolving "You have successfully fled from the enemy" and then blank screen and CCMintDragon - Today at 12:52 PM if you were at range 5 and it shows you escaped, but they still board you, then it's a bug if you were just retreating to a different range, then you are fair game Turk - Today at 12:57 PM I was range 5 and had gotten the message I escaped But it's always a talent that gets me. Happened three times or so

From Discord: XardasTheDude - Today at 3:21 PM So I rolled a new campaign and a crewmember has Malcontent (always joins mutiny) and Reveres Authority (always joins captain)(edited) I'd say that there should be one or the other and a check should be written for each(edited) Loving the game so far though andrew

That wasn't quite where it was. However, learning I can right click on something that doesn't look like it can be interacted with helped. Yay for *intuitive* Apple GUIs! I *think* you might have found it? anyway, if you still are looking, open folder app, GO (menu), hold down option button, and Library folder will appear in the GO menu. just zip up the StarTradersFrontiers folder and send it :-)

That one is the Da Rivesh story arc, really a tough one. Not sure if that arc is on a timer or not. When I stumble upon that landing zone and the story arc appears, I just put a blue star on the contact or landing zone and come back later when I have a strong enough fight team.
If nothing else, you'll know on your next playthrough not to attempt it early on :-) (I didn't survive the first time either!)

There are contacts that sell armor, weapons, gear; but currently not many choices. As far as I know, the ones you can currently buy are only marginally better than Weapons Locker 4. But we'll be seeing a lot more variety in the near future :-)
But, you can get some really cool crew combat talents today; when used well, turns the tide in combat (even against Xeno). Check the 'Talents' section of the wiki for ideas. Also, might want to try out a run on Basic difficulty just to try out ideas for combat, then apply what you know to your current game.

I was wondering if there were plans to include ways for players to take notes about planets/contacts/quadrants ect. For me, I'd find it very useful playing smuggler so that I can remember supply/demand info about black markets. That a particular black market is, say, looking for Fighter Weapon Components and Narcotic Spice and selling Power Generators. Or maybe a way for players who have visited a black market to have that info available for them on the System Atlas screen. also, always good to use the STAR indication on landing zones, contacts that you are interested in. So you could put a blue star on landing zones that have black markets for particular goods, and green star on others, etc... Then you can filter zones based on certain color stars.

Hey @t-Dog, def check out the wiki on crew combat startraders.gamepedia.com/Crew_Combat3) upgrading to weapons locker 4 definitely helps, it will arm your crew with the best weapons available. But it doesn't automatically upgrade/choose your armor, so be sure to do that manually 4) weapons/armor/gear are currently sparse; look for a lot more options in the next 60 days or so Look for more threads like this on in the Tips and Techniques section of the forum, lots of good ideas on crew combat composition: startradersrpg.proboards.com/post/200376/threadWould also encourage you to join the discord server; lots of players can give you real-time feedback/ideas on crew combat, gameplay, etc... discord: discordapp.com/invite/xTQPfZv

drspendlove Playing as a merchant, I reach a point (in this version of the game), where I'm normally trading only in high value goods, have 3-5 million in credits, training crew/officers to become effective in things other than merchant duties (Spy, Explorer, etc...). The question I ask myself is 'what do I want to do next?' Personally I don't need as much cargo space (due to high value goods only), so tend to look for a ship that can defend itself against anything (high armor/shields/lots of containers for weapons and upgrades). Also consider how many officers I want to carry. Galtak Freighter is great due to good range, low fuel consumption, 75 cargo room to start. You can bulk it up pretty well with upgrades, but are limited initially to 4 officers (5 max). Warhammer has the most compartments and largest crew size, 60 cargo, so IMO can really customize it the most at this point. And for sure there will be additional ships to choose from, but currently the Galtak to Warhammer is my normal Merchant upgrade path. Wiki Ship Table: startraders.gamepedia.com/Ships

I think that's right tho... the second 'initial disposition' is after the encounter, but before you bribe.
If you decide to bribe a second time, the new 'initial disposition will be -1, and become 0
I guess it's just semantics, but...
