Hmmm. Luxury cabins used to give a bonus to mission payment, not sure if that's the case anymore (you would think that it would be in the description?)

per Gedsaro in discord: Gedsaro - Today at 9:04 PM It just says that my spy was attack by enemy crew member name with used weapon type, shows the rolls, and states that it was a miss. hmm I think I found me a bug! This is my captain, he started in position 4, but seeing as he has a pistol and no crew combat talents he was not able to do anything there, so last round I had him switch with my Doc. Now it is his turn again and all I can do is move, no shooting or even refocusing. media.discordapp.net/attachments/359350778277920772/419707371741511690/20180303220538_1.jpgHa poor guy, all he can do is run too and fro in the back line! media.discordapp.net/attachments/359350778277920772/419707758007287810/20180303220830_1.jpgNEW MESSAGES Gedsaro - Today at 9:16 PM Huh, and next boarding attempt (in the same ship combat) he is fine and able to fire and refocus after switching from pos 4 to 3 Ha poor guy, all he can do is run too and fro in the back line! yep, you are right athios. The Pilot Module helps with dodging the enemy fire :-) I should probably add the escape info to the wiki...

"Mostly ignoring combat" My priority for investing/improving is generally along these lines 1. Weapons Locker 4 : Good enough weapons (and manually swap in the best armor for your fighting squad) to handle surprise attacks from missions or card games 2. Pilot and Nav Module 4 - adding/upgrading these 2 components will keep you from getting hit as often in ship battle, even if you are only trying to escape 3. Second Pilot Module 4 - especially if you are primarily trying to escape ship combat 4. Additional/larger Cargo Bay(s) - if needed 5. Specialist Upgrades - if I'm doing a lot of spying as a side job, would upgrade Spy related components on the ship; check the engine options too. Might be an upgrade that is better suited for your playstyle. 6. Upgraded ship weapons, armor, shielding - just in case agree with Zer0Winds that Galtek is a good choice for Merchant. Currently can get it at game start with Priority C, if I recall.

How can I keep my reputation positive with all the factions? I find that doing missions (especially the story missions) end up trashing my rep. albma , I walk you through maintaining positive rep (with all factions) in my Advanced Let's Play on youtube (http://startradersrpg.proboards.com/post/198291/thread). Essentially, I take missions early on to make money/gain experience while avoiding trading into the trade ban. As mission steps are completed on a landing zone, return to orbit and patrol to regain any rep loss. Patrol on additional planets of the affected faction (and others) to stay ahead of the rep curve. By the time the initial trade bans are resolved, I normally have a level 4 trade permit in my faction, and enough skills talents to mitigate patrol risk cards. So, just another idea on how to get/keep positive reputation with the factions

Ok. That's good to know. I just struggle with basic concepts at this time, and having a playthrough where I can just relax and slowly learn these concepts is nice. ah, gotcha. If you'd like to real-time help or advice, pop on the discord server. discordapp.com/invite/xTQPfZvalso, there are some good Let's Play series on youtube and steam if that helps, including here. startradersrpg.proboards.com/post/198291/thread

Ignoring Scoreboards and Achievements, am I penalized in any fashion for taking my sweet time to play this game? Is there a finite number of years 'till your captain gets old and retires? Is there a mechanic that makes the game progressively harder the more time passes, regardless of your equipment/level? There is not penalty to playing ST:F as a sand box. Due to the ship's void engine, spacers age very slowly, so essentially the captain/crew won't die of old age. The game has a concept of 'Eras' (such as factions fighting over power in a new Senate, a galaxy-wide plague, or spice crops falling to disease for several years) which impact the game events for a period of time. Finally, the game does get 'harder' over time, but you would presumably be gaining experience, learning new talents, upgrading your ship to stay ahead of this curve. You can also mitigate this by playing at a lower difficulty than your are capable of (or use the custom difficulty to swing everything in your favor to fit your playstyle.

sorry. my bad. I mis-read the discord discussion with John Robinson. anyway, did cursory testing with Safari. turning off adblocker, pop-up window prevention, even tried to force safari to use Dev/UserAgent/(various browsers)... so ?? If I come across anything on the dev forums or other will let you know. and FWIW for now, works on Android, does not work on iOS.

When patrolling over a Javat planet, I was able to reduce negative rep from -24 to -10, but (while in orbit), the landing zones are still showing that services are not available. Even after landing and returning to orbit, the services aren't refreshed. Not a big deal, but if it's possible to fix sometime, might prevent others from bug pointing. Second picture to demonstrate that services (doctor/spice hall) are available.

I see. Would something like this be mentioned in the Update notes, so we know not to post the same bug again? Normally the devs will use the term FFN (fixed for next), meaning it will be in the next update. If it's something major, it will probably be in the notes, but a spelling error/truncation/etc... probably won't be mentioned. If you see it re-occur after, nothing wrong with coming back to this post and adding to it. :-) (btw, the next update just got released on Steam)
