Gr8Scott I did not respec Kj. I only lvled CA until lvl 13 grabed 1 pt in warding wards finished taking it to lvl 10 then banked a pt and grabbed firestorm 2 at lvl 18. Also Once I got conjuring to lvl 9 I stopped and invested all skill pts from that point into sorcery in preparation for firestorm. I've been playing long before respec was available. I do it with planning. I was just talkking about using respec to test certain things out for my eventual next run that would still be possible to do via natural lvling. Ahh... Banking! I forgot that option. I have all Obi John's tables bookmarked. John Robinson helped me learn to love Kyera, our problem child. There are times where respec is good like my 23 death party starting Ep3. I can't see using it in an Ironman run, but if you aren't dying why change?

So, I'm running the OG. I'm only just in the Vermin Lair in Ep1, and 7 deaths (2 were "mistakes", paused during battle for dinner or kids, came back and forgot to heal Vraes). Tam is "leader", hears something, uses FarEye (level 6 now), then retreats. Generally, Vraes full-buffs (Stoneskin 4, Phalanx Shield 1) or semi-buffs (Stoneskin) and retreats to a chokepoint. Ky and Kj back up to make room for Tam and Vr. Then they let the foes come to them. Kj uses choking ash them immolation, Vra spreads out the damage, then Tam mops up the low-hp targets. Ky twiddles her thumbs until it is healing time; occasionally she holy-blasts something strong that is close to death and everyone missed (like a Veteran or a Shaman).
When we get flanked, if retreating isn't an option, Ky "womans up" and blocks the other side, and both Tam and Kj focus fire her enemies, leaving Vr to work on his side alone.
So... is that "hard", "normal", or "easy"?

rmcoen I think, if I am catching the meaning correctly, that you are building a group that is “hard”. Let’s start with thumb twiddler...Kyera has an exceedingly strong curse in Ethereal Anguish, use it. Level it to 2 or 6 and watch as all monster damage gets cut by 1/2 to 2/3. I find in this game that it is better to prevent damage (through AP curses, dodge+parry, accuracy curses, backing up out of archer range, etc) than take it to the face and heal up after. She also has Warden’s Shield to buff up parry and dodge. Lastly, at the very least, you should be putting a strong mace on her and whacking things that have been Choking Ashed when she has nothing to do. She can output some good numbers with minimal skill investment (maybe put a point into strength or hammers once in a while). Tam being lead is fine, however, FarEye should never be leveled past 4. Also, this should not be the first skill you level. Tam is your damage dealer (along with Vraes) and building utility first is going to make episode 1 and 2 rough. There are 2 main ways to build her to great effect. Bow Tamilin focuses on her bow talents (they all have merit for investing, I think Aimed Shot is the best after investing heavily into Deadly Intuition, with a sprinkling of Black Night to make sure you win stealth). Throwing knife Tamilin focuses Torrent of Steel to 5, 8, or 9 and then sprinkles Black Night with Deadly Intuition. It is only at about level 37 that I start investing in Far Sight, as at that point there is little I can do to output more damage and AP free vision is very nice. Synergy is also key to the game, focus each character but try not to overlap too much (except on damage, overlapping tons of damage is fine!). For instance, if you are building throwing knife Tamilin consider not leveling Ethereal Anguish on Kyera. You only need 1 AP curse 99% of the time and a level 1 Ethereal Anguish can spot curse anyone you think needs it. Lastly, use all your buffs. Phalanx Shield is amazing and prevents a ton of damage, it should be up at all times unless it times out and there is maybe 1 enemy that has a 1 AP and only 1 round to live. Investing in buffs and not using them is just throwing away talent points, those things are very precious, make sure to maximize every single one.

Looks like when we get back to town, some respeccing is due. I already told you Tam's -- I have invested exclusively in DEX and BOW, but for talents, I was unsure (I burned a lot of potions); Far Eye is high, Aimed shot is only 2; I leveled Disarm Trap just to get range-3. I haven't leveled blacknight or deadly intuition at all... these buffs seemed weak, and wasteful of SP (potion issues). For Vraes, I upped his Spirit a few times, then STR; almost all in Bladed (I like shields). Stoneskin a lot, 1 point in Sweeping blow, 1 on crushing low, 1 on ferocious, and 1 on Phalanx -- I always put Vraes's buffs up. Ky has most stat points in Spirit, a spread on Conjuring and Lore (# targets, amt of healing). For talents, 1 in Anguish, lots in Healing, and just put 2 into the holy retribution. 1 in Cleansing Wind to remove curses. Kjartan spread between knowledge and spirit, then increased Sorcery and Conjuring. for talents, nothing in firebolt, lots in Choking Ash, a couple in Immolation, 1 in his elemental shielding. Thanks for all input! I orignially was going to go with no OG, all new players. Then I paid attention to being all melee focussed, and thought this might be a bad plan for my first game!

rmcoen You can make Vincent ranged! Anyway, the trap disarm should never be leveled, talents are too rare to justify a convenience point in it. Tamilin will ALWAYS have a good talent to invest into. The buffs seem weak but it’s important to note that they buff every attack, even normal ones. In the long run, this can save you SP as you will not need Aimed shot to hit. Also, when maxed DI gives 27% crit, that is monsterous and Tamilin can one shot a lot of things with crits. It’s not unheard of to get her to 50-60% crit, especially with Kjartan buffing and Immolation things. Choking Ash makes everything easy to hit, Kyera should be using a mace, moving in, hitting 2 times and moving back on her free turns. It’s free damage, costs no SP, and does not really require any investment. Also, if you are not doing Torrent of Steel then you are pretty forced into leveling EA to 6. AP curses are pretty much the only non-optional thing in this game. There are bosses and tough monsters coming up that WILL kill you if they get all their attacks off. Make sure Vraes only invests into 1 attack talent. Spreading them out makes him lose a lot of power, just pick one and use that all the time. Also, Kyera’s curse removal is not really necessary until worse curses come along. You can easily hold off leveling that until level 25-30. Hope you are enjoying the game, it’s a really awesome one!

Just finished Ep1 Act1 last night. Looking to respecc all my characters thanks to this feedback, but not enough blue crystals!! Will start with Tam, I guess, and go from there.
I do use Ky for "run, smack, smack, retreat" sometimes, but I like to park Vraes where only one or two things can attack him -- which generally means Ky can't reach *them* either. She certainly helped out in the Shaman battle, though!
