Why don't Star Traders ever launch more than one torp at a time in combat? Why can't they torp and gun at the same time? Why doesn't anyone make jokes about how Steel Song Clanners listen to heavy metal music? Too easy a pun? ST RPG combat is a sequence of single actions, imagine them as concurrent if you wish, but the game has a design that is action-turn and that's just the way it is designed, for the benefit of the player. If multiple hyperwarp munitions detonate in the same space, their fields cancel each other out -- so that's why you don't see a barrage of torpedoes. Launching multiple torps would also ruin the pure artistry of the moment. You want to appreciate and savor every time on of your floating Cadar greeting makes a new friend. Bullets flying around is silly song fantasy, after all, those who can't aim, use guns. Torping is a beautiful form or art that only the Cadar can teach you. Join us my young apprentice and we will complete your training. Your journey to the Cadar side will be complete. TORP FOR EVERYONE!

Silly Cadarian, if I made a torp-focused captain, I'd still be Steel Song. Torps from Corelloth and Xenox are better quality than torps from any Cadar world.

Yes, I believe that's exactly what I told the song arms dealer when I offloaded that crate of Javat dirt sausages from my basement. Just relabelled them awesome, coat of paint, and they fit perfectly with the decor of the vessel. Even that nitwit from Thulun wouldnt take those off my hands. There's a reason Xenox is in the middle of nowhere. No one else wanted it, so we sold it to the song for the only thing the steel song have that we all want. Season tickets to the Golden State Warriors. That's true syndicate prowess.

After you left, he generously donated those torps to the Museum of Primitive Civilizations. They're displayed in the Cadar Section, so that everyone can learn about how bad the Cadar are at scamming people.

You say we'really bad, but I still have his money, and he's now got nothing. I'll remember to give him a very generous Cadar handout next time we cross paths.

The real question is how do larger ships slow down speed when the game takes place in space. Last time I checked there aren't many resisting forces up there. Weight is irrelevant. Unless it has to do with engines giving power to the other parts of the ship, instead of thrusters

Unless it has to do with engines giving power to the other parts of the ship, instead of thrusters Objects in space are weightless, but they are not massless. The more mass something has, the more energy is required to accelerate it.

Also, a larger Mass takes much more to slow down. This makes agility an issue since you can't really turn like you can a car. It's more like high speed drifting. Which is why all good cadarian pilots are canadian. We have lots of practice driving like that.

I've often thought that chances of having an encounter while traveling through space between solar systems would be nearly impossible. Both because of the incredible distances and emptiness of space and the incredible speeds that would need to be reached to achieve such travel. The idea that somebody is going to slow down or catch a ship as it travels by at those speeds is incredible. I suppose there's an argument for the idea of intercepting a ship by matching it's velocity and trajectory but that would suppose some incredible technology. It would seem to me that the only place ships could be successfully intercepted is as they decelerate when approaching a destination.

And that's why Cadar consistently wins battles. We ignore the whole slowing down and maneuvering thing and allow small mass rockets To Out Run and Pursue our targets.
The fuel savings alone are immense, not to mention the mental anxiety about whether or not your spice fuelled nerd of a pilot is actually pilotting or he's playing the latest star traders game; Star Traders XXXXVI, now on sale via google play and steam.
