I have a question, is there a reason to level up the disarm or lockpick talents? I haven't run into anything they wouldn't work on,up until the first area of the CoD.(Never got any further)

Not at the moment. The only reason would be for convenience to aoe trap disarm

Lockpick would level for extra range. Disarm for cost and range. I wouldn't raise either past the level of reaching sufficient efficiency. But if you have Kjartan, he will offer a greater range of lockpick for just a point.

The formula for determining hits and damage is confusing and I don't remember where it is but all this choking ash talk reminds me of a question. Does it just improve the probability of a hit, or does it improve the damage rolls? Because as I recall they're 2 distinct rolls. So if I hit a guy with 13 armor and do 43 damage, what would it be if I ashed him first and he had zero armor? Just a greater hit probability but the damage roll is unaffected, right?
Probably wrong, because if I'm right not everyone would love it as much.

Here is the combat mechanics thread - startradersrpg.proboards.com/thread/6711/combat-mechanics?page=1Dodge, Parry, Accuracy, Dexterity, Strength -- these stats effect probability to hit / miss. Damage, Armor -- these stats effect damage.

Ash is amazing because it does both (in a way ) :
While it doesn't directly affect YOUR accuracy, it greatly lowers the enemy's ability to dodge attacks.
Also, it doesn't INCREASE your character's damage, it LOWERS the enemy's ability to soak damage.

Oh, I had it completely backwards! Armor doesn't do anything to the hit roll, but is crucial in the damage roll. Man, teaming Vincent and Kjartan seems like such a good idea.

Late to the party, but my vote definitely goes to Sure Parry because it makes Kincaid basically untouchable. In my current game I have it up to... 6 I think? 3 instant misses coupled with Kincaid's already disgustingly high parry/dodge (he is built as a light blade wielder in my game, all points dumped into blades and dex) means he averages close to 0 hits per combat. Even when absolutely surrounded by enemies!

I have to disagree. My vote is still EA. An ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure.
