Certainly is. CK was in fact the first instant of the Storyteller engine that we use now, and many of its concepts and models have carried through (albeit upgraded) to BF and are now going on to future games as well.

We've re-written it in Java, Objective-C and now C++ ... but the core design has stayed pretty constant.

I wish it had came about in Star Traders. But I love it. I've been playing Star Traders a few years and just got into Cyber (Pirates was a fail for me, Idk why) So I assume CK2 is confirmed or is it just an idea atm?

Trese Brothers,
Thank you for making the kinds of games that I would make, if I made games.
Here are some of my wishes for CK2:
Car chases. Vehicle combat. Motorcycles.
Romance side plots, like in Fable or Sid Meyer's Pirates! Could provide safe houses, paydata, rumors, or even be connectors.
A graphical matrix.
Security cameras to avoid/hack/or get caught on
Monofilament Whip. Katana. Night stick (tonfa). Retractable combat staff.
Combat drug dependency
Your Wired Reflexes / Muscle Augmentation are malfunctioning.
That corporate hit squad has tracked you down... outside their own territory.
Strength could mean more: add to hand-to-hand damage or penetration / add to damage resistance or AP. Actually, this sounds good for CK1 too. This could be something very simple like: if Strength > your weapon damage, then weapon damage +1 HP.
Even when you are very tough, "heat" means something, some skill checks always have a chance to fail, and some enemies are always dangerous.
I wouldn't holler if my hermetic mage tried to astral project into a target building but ran into a fire elemental that destroyed his spell focus. Ok, I would holler.
I haven't mastered all of CK, yet. But, I am very gratefully enjoying this game!

diomedes welcome to the forum and thanks for jumping on the CK2 bandwagon. Lots of good ideas you have there. Keep playing though and you see that some are already in the game in some small way. Even once you max out your character, heat still plays an important roll in the game. Some connectors will not deal with you at all. The chances for enemy encounters goes way up. I have a knight with a personal grudge against KH and his heat with them is super high and his Rep is in the -hundreds. Almost every encounter in KH lands is hostile. Even as old as this game is, it's still fun to play. Check out some of the fan fiction CK stories. A lot of us have written hidden tips and such into them. There are also many great tip\play guides hidden deep in the forum now. Seek the great gravling or slayernz, they are very wise in the ways of the CK.

ntsheep,
Thank you for the quick welcome! I look forward to reading your fan fiction. Maybe, someday, I'll write some of my own.

We'd definitely like to deep the game and all of its systems, as you're suggesting. Just as a point, there is no magic in Cyber Knights, so we won't see mages appearing.

Just to toss my $0.02 in.. 1) More storyline/ladders. MnB was outstanding. Need more like this. Complete freeform is good. But with the idea that moving up with certain corps can be useful, a way to do it that means something (other than the occasional rewards)
2) Multi-part missions/storylines. If two companies are in a war of some type, perhaps a series of storyline missions. Data hack, leading to drop-off, then followed by a break-in, followed by a hostage/escort, finishing with perhaps another data-hack in order to cover tracks. 2a) perhaps even backstab missions. Like in ST, where you were set up. perhaps even causing bad blood with both corps. With chances to detect its a set-up at steps along the way
3) Enter buildings/actions in buildings.
4) Skill/perk trees.
5) Have some skills/perks modify things a bit more. Such as a high negotiation affecting prices for hires (don't recall if it's there or not), and also perhaps affect xp-cost for converting followers. allowing events to modify that. ie: A rescue was made a follower. maybe 0.75x cost for turning into ally. lowered to 0.50x cost if you complete mission for them, etc.
6) More in-depth matrix ( perhaps graphical, or at least more of a fleshed out matrix-map for missions. ie: log in anywhere, hack your way to X.X.X.com. But once there almost a map/mission to complete, rather than just 'download data'. Could have a dozen maps with randomized location for info. 6a) localized matrix if hacking something in a building. ie: air-gap, no link to the matrix, need to enter building via force/stealth and THEN hack something out. 6b) able to hack devices that affect map-play. Unlock doors, turn off lights/cameras/tripwires/etc.

Alex Fury - great list! Certainly more storylines! Entering buildings, yes! More complicated skill trees associated with professions, gauranteed! High Negotiation does affect all prices (including hires). But point well taken. We're really looking at the Matrix as being a second map type that you navigate as your avatar. Hack your way to x.x.x.com is already in as a mission type in CK 1 Having hacking directly affect the map (open doors to make a mission possible) is high on our list.

Regarding story: I would really love some endgame stuff. Like first part of the game is the usual sandbox and when you get powerful enough(xp, rep etc) it opens up various strands, like taking over a gang, becoming a corp executive, fleeing to a better place or whatever- just ways to succesfully end the game/retire the character.
Also maybe some special side missions in addition to the generic ones, to give flavor.
But please no story in the sense of "go there, do that, now go there...".
