Ok, I was hoping to get a turn in this weekend but my wife didn't take a nap. In fact, she decided she wanted to play board games with my sister-in-law, her husband, and myself. Lots of fun, but no turn. I'll definitely be able to play this coming Sunday, so if no one grabs a turn before then I'll be doing it there. She's gotta work

Cory Trese, 2.49 was correct, I meant to go back and fix it but didn't get the chance. 2.48 was *my* last turn

Right on. I couldn't help myself and played 6 turns to get a feel for where we were at.
Updated tracker and posted a turn report as well as game_3.zip

I'm glad you found everything to be satisfactory, Commander.
War is indeed coming. First, I think, from the Sidtax(?) from our South. Our Explorer spotted a Hive relatively close to our inner ring a few turns before my turn cycle ended. Had I any W/F, I would have considered engaging, but I thought it better to withdraw.

If you think it wise, brother Aurelius, then feel free to do so during your cycle. Our Explorer encountered no less than 5 hostile ships, which have chase until we were clear of their systems. They did not pursue, and we did not press the matter. I will attempt to finish my year (I will take an extra 4 turns to cover Cory Trese's missing 4 (I'm OCD like that), and turn the year over into year 3. We are well poised to secure another round of systems and solidify our holdings. Then I just need to figure out how to upload the file and share it. I can't participate directly, remember?

I think at some point in the near future, we will build a small attack group and give Brutus Aurelius command over it

Now that you remind me, I do indeed remember, my friend.
Perhaps you could aid our engineers in the development of some attack crafts as well?

Our current situation ... known Xeno infestations marked in red. Our current economic status ... and our current technology tree ...

I would recommend researching the FDF Garrisons before moving to Mine and Factory 2. With those technologies, we will be able to expand our economy, and solidify our hold on our new homes. While this research is going on, any worlds that do not have improvements to make should try to build ships. I would recommend four Fighters and a Cruiser, as we still have the Templar Defenders at our disposal.

FDF Garrisons may only cripple our growing economy, should they be produced carelessly.
Let us defend ourselves with ships first, as the Xeno are weak and may not send more than a single WK at a time to assault us. Once our economy is more resilient, Garrisons should be researched, then built on the worlds closest to the Xeno, should our ships be deemed inadequate.

I believe a middle ground can be found between the two positions.
We should RESEARCH the FDF technology, but BUILD it with great caution.
I concur that a fighter-heavy space navy is the most appropriate path.
Cruisers, while very effective, are expensive to maintain.

For certain.
I'm of the thought that we should colonize the blue and white systems closest our southwest sector, and the white system nestled in the asteroids to the northwest. These systems would be appropriate for Garrisons, and would provide a suitable base for defending ourselves, simultaneously denying them a foothold which would threaten our territory.

Do you mean "Void of Batina" and "Allistar" for our next two colonies? EDIT: Someone play a turn, I'm dying to know what happens next
