After action report for Operation Deth Starr
Operation Deth Starr stretched over four engagements, and saw the Purple People Eaters successfully purge a burgeoning xeno infestation on Galantia Cross. Before going into detail about each mission, I will request that Templar command (and anyone reviewing this report) please execute the embedded file, as it provides the proper ambiance.
Operation Death Starr began with the engagement
drop zone on Galantia. The Purple People Eaters detected a xeno brood mother and deployed to engage it before it could take root. The Templars which deployed were
Soldier Rearick,
Neptune Caelius Aurelius,
Scout sniper En1gma,
Captain Nikolai Ramius, and a Soldier on lone from another unit. Upon deployment, the battleforce was broken into two squads; Captain Ramius and Scout En1gma were to run interference while Soldier Rearick, our loaned soldier, and Neptune Caelius Aurelius took the high ground you can see near Caelius's position in this image.
Our task was simple, hold our ground for 10 turns and eliminate as much xeno as possible. That was expected to be enough to draw out the brood mother before she could metastasize. The plan went off beautifully, with Ramius and En1gma patrolling around the north of the barbed wire while Caelius Aurelius, Rearick, and our loaner rained death on the xeno. Sure enough, the brood mother made her appearance, and within a single turn En1gma and Ramius were within striking distance. The brood mother fell, and the infestation was quashed.
After eradicating the brood mother, our battleforce was alerted to a xeno incursion at Tundeer, a heavy industrial city on Galantia's Cross. We deployed with all due haste to
siege at Tundeer, and the Templars deployed to this engagement were
Hydra Xdesperado,
Engineer Setenph,
Soldier Rearick, and
Captain Nikolai Ramius with
Neptune Caelius Aurelius and
Scout sniper En1gma being deployed later in the engagement to provide fire support.
Upon entering Tundeer, Rearick, Xdesperado, Setenph, and Ramius moved to secure the first gate and the tactical point. Xdesperado immediately showed the effectiveness of his promethieum flame by torching three hunters and opening the way for Setenph to secure the tactical point, and then he moved to close the northern gate.
After securing the first tactical and bringing En1gma into the engagement, the battleforce was split into two squads; En1gma and Ramius moving toward the eastern gate while Xdesperado, Rearick, and Setenph moved to the western gate. The plan was to regroup and move in concert on the southern gate. The western task force ran into heavy resistance, while the eastern task force was able to not only close the eastern gate but also to recover medtech, a promethieum resupply cache, and two caches of defensive equipment for the Rychart forces.
While the eastern task force moved to reinforce the western task force, Caelius Aurelius was deployed to bolster the battleforce.
With Caelius Aurelius's support, Ramius was able to sprint and seal the southern gates while the bulk of the task force drew streams of xeno. Thankfully, Xdesperado's promethieum flame and heavy rounds from Rearick, Caelius Aurelius, and even Setenph took down the hordes.
After securing Tundeer, our battleforce was deployed to engage three xeno spores which had fallen to the surface. Unfortunately, due to the location of said spores, we were required to deploy overground. The Templars that took part in the
great pipeline: bombed were
Scout sniper En1gma,
Paladin Kanly,
Hydra Xdesperado,
Captain Nikolai Ramius, and another scout on loan from a different battleforce. To compound the problem, the Rychart military had destroyed one of the bridges that we had to cross. As such, the Purple People Eaters were forced to deploy one at a time through an underground rail system to cross the bridge. Paladin Kanly valiantly held the bridge while the Purple People Eaters moved through the railway. Once regrouping on the southern cliff face, the battleforce made haste to the second crossing.
Unfortunately, the xeno displayed a bit more cunning than we are used to and had laid an ambush for us at the second bridge. However, both En1gma and our loaner scout made their way across the bridge while Ramius, Xdesperado, and Kanly held the mouth of the bridge. A glorious slaughter took place where wave after wave of xeno charged the two knights while Xdesperado rained promethieum flame on them.
Ultimately, the Purple People Eaters made the northern cliff face and moved on to their final engagement with the xeno on Galantia's Cross.
The last engagement in
Operation Deth Starr was
extermination by fire, and as you can tell from the name it required the cleansing of three xeno spores which made ground fall. The Templars deployed on this engagement were
Soldier Rearick,
Hydra Xdesperado,
Neptune Caelius Aurelius,
Engineer Setenph, and
Captain Nikolai Ramius with
Scout sniper En1gma being deployed later. From the beginning, Caelius Aurelius and Ramius held the single approach while Rearick, Xdesperado, and Setenph moved to cleanse the southern spore and secure the southern tactical point.
With the southern spore cleansed and En1gma deployed, the battleforce moved to engage the northern spore. Heavy, heavy resistance was encountered, and both Rearick and Cealius Aurelius nearly shut down their leviathans from heat build up due to constantly engaging the xeno. Two new forms of xeno were purged, the Goliath and the Spitter. While the spitters were fairly simple to deal with, the Goliaths required concentrated fire to bring down, and if not for En1gma's well placed shots they may have been able to penetrate through the withering fire laid down by Caelius Aurelius and Rearick.
Thankfully, the lines held, and Ramius and Setenph accompanied Xdesperado on a desperate bid to cleanse the north-western spore. It was cleansed, but not before Setenph was called upon to down two hunters that Ramius critically injured.
All in all, Templars, a rousing performance. We not only purged the planet of xeno, but we did so without loses. Our current requisition tree can be summed up easily. I've unlocked up to the third level in all classes aside from Berserk class, which is still locked, and the Hydra and the Neptune. The Hydra was been unlocked to precision fire 1, and the Neptune has been unlocked to cannonier 1. Basically, each class has 3 blocks unlocked.
We have no remaining requisition points, but I thought I'd give everyone a chance to let me know what you'd like to use the next batch of points on. After all, we do need to deploy to the Ferari Lance as soon as possible!
Questions for you!- How should we deploy to the Ferari Lance, the auxiliary airlock or the explorer's airlock?
- If you had your way, what should the next requisitions points be spent on? What are your ideal goals?
