Brutus Aurelius - you are the only Neptune I have left from the OG crew. Everyone else has been cut down around you and had to be replaced, but you're just too tough to die. If I get through the challenge at all, it will be on your mighty shoulders! Rar rar Neptunes! Vae Victus!

My god this hive level is hard. I'm remembering that there is no pally on the team, so I'm going to need to rely on my Hydras to burn areas that the enemies are coming from just so I can cool down for a round or three. I just made it to the door and my captain is already almost at half health...
Onward, death before dishonor!

I opened the door without taking a turn or two breather. I was in a "I can sprint the entire level." I could not. Multiple Templars paid the price and my Captain barely squeaked through.

So glad to be back to fighting humans in Trench Warfare. I will be starting the challenge for real any moment now Neptunes turn huge waves of Shelgeroth into splat!

Made it through in 19 turns, didn't lose a single trooper. There is genuinely something to be said about the ability to shut down each of those spawn clusters. Even if we lose on this challenge because of player error or whatever, for me, the clear winner is the Hydra. Philosophically speaking, to have the ability to shut down entire clumps of Xeno spawn points in a way deals more damage than a Neptune. By denying them a chance to spawn and subsequently attack, you both attack the enemy overwhelmingly, and have a far lower level of enemies that have the opportunity to actually attack your squad. If you had a Hydra to help, your squad might have made it through, fallen ...

En1gma - I did make it through. The second level of Kaldun took me a blistering 62 Turns (once I was over the limit, I played very careful to keep my casualty count at 2 ... but still!). Owwwwww. Being able to shutdown spawners would help a lot. I can't believe you don't miss OW immensely. I have Respec'ed my team from those lessons. Full-Vent and Heat Sink are becoming more and more important in the strategy. I just posted my first score on Drayan Siege, 5 Neptunes no Deaths.

My plan through this game is to use Soldiers alongside the Hydras.
One Soldier for/attached to each Hydra in the deployment means every lane of fire covered by Napalm gets an OW. Nothing makes it through alive except for the baddest mofos like Goliaths.
This dynamic absolutely crushes right now...

Yes, one week left now. I'm glad to see most everyone has started or is almost to the challenge levels. En1gma. I only ever really kept Dalan in the game for Rallying Cry. By the end I was pretty much doing all Hydra's everywhere I could. My first Hydra was always a fire breathing dragon (i.e. highest power gun and high Napalm charge) and my second was a buffer. I really love inferno seal, though I realize that my reliance on it is what led to some of my problems on the last level. I got over confident and a few too many big hits got through.

Second score posted, crushed the Palace with 2 Neptunes. Odd bit of strategy, but it is important to have some high level scouts and low level Neptunes around, helps get the best possible swaps.
2/3 of the way through Extermination Protocol. Why is it always the eastern tower that is the last one? Bleep!

Especially for the last push, having the Lich respawn the turn it dies is hell. You keep pushing the abomination back to its last stand, but it just keeps coming.
