Oh no!!! Major choke on the last level. 4 Hydras deployed, but 2 deaths, which means I only get the 4 bonus. Total score 31. Should be quite beatable. The deaths were totally avoidable too. I got over confident and pulled a few fat-fingers to.
select napalm charge, check -> decide you need to reposition your Hydra by one square, check -> forget to unselect napalm charge, check -> fail to kill any incoming xeno and engulf the whole team in flames, check -> your dead...

"Are you sure you want to barbecue your teammates?" 'Yes dammit! I'm hungry'

I'm trying to get there, only getting about one or two levels done a day. I'm about to start the Siege at Tundeer and I admit it's not my strongest level. I always seem to get bogged down on the big ones, but Hydras make it easy to break away from the packs and keep going so we'll see. Hopefully I'll get it done by tonight. Don't forget to post screenshots, Hydras-- fields of flames make for great cinematics

I love that the first Hydra deaths in the challenge resulted specifically from the Hydras.

Hydras require perfect captains... Otherwise barbecue is on and they don't care what gets eaten, even if it's their own.
"Om sarry brothas ... *wipes face* ... but you taste so good and you have fed the fires of our bellies for future battles ... and barbecues - mmm barbecue ..."
Edit: or... Maybe the North Carolina boys talked to much smack to their SC neighbors. :-p

Well, I got up to the start line and am doing well. Unfortunately, had a bad luck round on Extermination Protocol. Deployed my hydras, who are kicking ass by the way, and was doing fine. Got a little greedy and decided to send my deep-op scout out to grab some intel on the spawn towers. I figured she was safe, what with her 20+ stealth and being 6 squares away from the lich and perpendicular to his line of travel. WRONG! He waltzed over there, zapped her for 120p damage, and then she promptly roasted to death while while behind my lines. Oh well, my squad is designed to be totally self-sufficient without need of a paladin, I haven't even got one in my squad, so I'm hoping I can make it through with enough hydra deployments to balance out the lost points. As contributor said, regardless of who wins, I'm having an absolute blast. I'd been mostly using melee troops like the 'serkers and the pallies through most of my runs, and this run has rekindled my love for the hydra. She's a fickle class, but she can steam roll anything!

Just suffered through a heart-wrenching win at Kaldun Scittering Hive ... bleep that hurt! That level is longer than I thought and I got caught in a nasty pincer at the main gate. Multiple Templars overheated to the point of shutdown ... my second highest level Neptune played body shield for my Captain before dying after 3 rounds against the horde. The xeno were spawning out of control. My highest level Scout detonated from overheating, and the squad was only saved by the speed Scout reaching the shaft into the lower levels with a few HP left. That was nearly game over. I cursed my way through about half the level, but it was so good. Love you BF.
Now I have to pick up the pieces and see if I can put this squad back together. 5 went in, 3 survived.

fallen OUCH! Then again what do you expect taking Neptunes to do a Hydra's job.

I'm working my way through that same level, bringing 2 Soldiers and 2 Hydras. Against humans, these flamethrowers just slaughter, plus we can shut down the Xeno's numerous spawn points... I wouldn't dream of trying this level with just Neptunes.

The second Kaldun level was the only place I lost a knight before the challenge. On that first level I always wait for the start of a new turn to open the gate, otherwise you can get in major trouble. If you had full AP for your Neppies I would have though they would have made quick work of the "horde."

xdesperado - lol, we shall see, we shall see contributor & En1gma - yes, this second Kaldun is brutal. Lost another Neptune and another Scout. I have it on the ropes now, but I am not done. Turn limit massively exceeded ... so brutal. I made the mistake of rushing the TPs instead of hunting down the spawning towers. If I had spent a few more turns killing nearby spawners, I think I would have done 10x better. I have come to love Full Vent Talent. It is saving Neptune lives daily.
