poryg sounds good! I can either be a friend of every faction or pirate my way to those I hate and be an alien hunter as well. I'm getting ready to start a new captain. Just one more thing, what's the best set of officers for this build?

Officers? I use the only useful ones for boarding. Bodyguard, Templar and Military officer. However, I can make do without them if I can't find them. The warrior bonus gained from Leviathan is THAT huge when you have a VERY HUGE warrior. Also, I wouldn't recommend you pirating and alien hunting at the same time. As contributor (ok, Brother Dervin) once said, you don't want to be destroyed by a foolish bounty hunter after killing a monster 10 times scarier than anything he has ever seen.

It's that dangerous? In difficulty higher than demanding?

I play solely on impossible difficulty. Trust me, it IS that dangerous. You can still survive, but having no friends means having no places where to repair your damaged ship and refuel. The battles themselves aren't that dangerous, since on close range you will always board before they can shoot (only pirates can ram before you board). But the fact that you have nowhere to refuel will kill you.

poryg gotcha! I'll choose my friends wisely and get a network of planets where I can repair and refuel. Thanks! I'll try this on demanding first and go my way up

I befriend everyone every time. Apart from the refueling it has another advantages. I can always choose who I want to attack when everyone is my friend. And when I have thousands of reputation, losing several hundred reputation points doesn't hurt me and we still remain friends. When nobody is my friend, the battles are rather inevitable, because I don't have enough stealth to escape. But then again.. . Why should I bother with attacking non alien ships.. . They don't bring me any challenge or profit. Having a score of 100 destroyed aliens greatly outweighs 800 non aliens in terms of achievement feeling

Oh and also forgot to mention... don't go alien hunting under Insane difficulty, it's too easy And the encounter rate is low. But seriously, when I saw how easy it was to fight on crazy difficulty, I had to immediately stop playing and move to impossible, because the difficulty factor made the boarding a cakewalk.

Yeah but being a pirate/alien hunter sounds good to me. I'll try this one and see how far I can go

poryg, I had read somewhere that as you and your crew keeps on dominating battles that their quality goes up. Does that mean that they have some hidden bonuses for crew members that are able to survive many encounters

Survivability of my captains through early phases is more than 80%, think again

Survivability of my captains through early phases is more than 80%, think again Maybe next time I won't toggle extreme difficulty lol. Started out with 0 credits even after first contract, and suffered multiple mutinies until a pirate killed me

Extreme difficulty doesn't really influence the gameplay that much. You begin from turn 1000, which basically means that the things influenced by time are going to be more advanced, but otherwise it makes no real difference... Or so I think, I am not entirely sure here.

Played through it using different upgrades and I find it wierd that the Hyperion exo suit upgrade is much better than leviathan
