Anyone thought about doing a roleplay thing here on the forums? It'd be interesting, though not too sure how it would end up. What do you guys think? I do things like this a lot, but one in the Star Traders universe, would be cool. There could be a thread based on everyone's character, their bio, and such... and another where the actual roleplay is.Example to the characterName: Black Cat Faction: Rychart Bio: A Rychart spy under the alias Black Cat. [Insert other information here] Might need to have multiple threads though. Not too sure how it would work out.What do you guys think? |

This was actually done last year. I don't think it was in the ST universe, and they called it "Stars Without Number". I don't know why it ended because I wasn't involved in it. I only remember it existed because I thought it was amusing that "Stars Without Number" kinda sounds like " Stats Without Number", which is what TB games sometimes feel like. I was involved a bit in Stars Without Number, it turns out none (maybe some) of us were super reliable... I was out being even sicker than normal for a while myself. I think the final nail in the coffin ended up being master Brutus Aurelius getting swamped with school. It kinda fizzled out from there. |

I may actually have time to do it. If memory serves there is typically one or more threads for RP- based on location or vessel if it's a large enough game. Then a bio thread and perhaps a supplementary thread for OOC notes.

If I can say one thing about the previous RP we had... The need to keep and update a spreadsheet was the most tedious part of the entire thing. If we pick an RPG or something, I think we should base it on honor and so long as nobody gets too out of hand or ambitious, we could have a nice and smooth game/session on our hands. There's just too many people with different schedules to have to worry about sorting out equipment, doling out points, and the like, so lets work with that and keep it casual.

How does points and armor work in this context? I do think there should be a designated gamemaster to ref the game, but I'm used to free-form. I've seen a few people get greedy but most issues I see are from when two or more parties post at about the same time and the actions conflict with one another's. The other way is to go in sequence, but as you say there are too many people with different schedules. I myself can get called away due to work so would need to set my own writing/posting schedule. I think we could, but we would need battlesystem and some dice plugins for that, also I could make some rules regarding that and we would need some kind of map for that(and somebody who could refresh it every once in a while).

Does it need to be in the ST universe? Something in Heroes, CK, or Age of Pirates could be awesome as well. Just putting it out there.
Also cool would be a BF role play, where we form a squad and run through a campaign.
