And why?
[/font][li] In the (current as of writing, but not final) default map, choosing House Thulun allows you to start in a quadrant with five Indie markets, which can help you make more money.[/li][li] Choosing Alta Mesa should give you access to exclusive ships and ship upgrades, according to the Wiki blurb, but it doesn't seem to be currently the case. From personal experience, Alta Mesa recruits are more likely to have the trait gravity sickness.[/li][li] In the (current as of writing, but not final) default map, choosing the Cadar Syndicate means starting in a safer quadrant (thanks to Cadar's military) at the center of the map. Being at the center of the map can be both a blessing and a curse. A blessing because you're close to systems with Indie markets and can more easily go anywhere; a curse because if, like me, you like to run missions in parallel, you're more likely to be offered missions that aren't compatible (because they require that you jump in opposite directions). From personal experience, Cadar recruits are more likely to have crew combat traits.[/li][li] From personal experience, Clan Moklumnue recruits are more likely to get the charming and mediator traits.
[/li][li] From personal experience, Rychart recruits are more likely to get the sly and other fascination traits.[/li][/ul]
Faction pages I've edited (for style):
● Alta Mesa ● Clan Javat ● Clan Moklumnue ● De Valtos Syndicate ● House Thulun

I almost always choose Steel Song. This habit starred in ST1 since I usually played a Bounty Hunter, and Steel Song gave more Assassination missions than other factions. Also, Steel Song captains in ST1 got a 15% bonus for Capture contracts. Honestly, I don't really have a particular reason for choosing them in STF. I just choose them because I liked them in ST1.

Maybe specific so people can answer the poll correctly? For example, your listing of Thulun only applies to a single map. Perhaps provide the map seed or say "in the default map" ?

I cycle around, especially depending on the character type that I'm playing. I rarely play the same faction twice in a row. I tend to avoid Cadar and De Valtos though. De Valtos seems so smug and blah. Cadar seems so desperate to be feared. I played a lot of Steel Song in ST RPG because Xenox was my favorite ship yard.

I copyedited/rewrote the Wiki pages for Javat and De Valtos. Clan JavatCheck before you dig “Look at the stars, but keep your feet in the dirt.” (Javat proverb) Javat is known for its industrious spirit. Its many mines and factories flood its markets with all kinds of goods, making its trading permits especially valuable. Other Factions will often try to engage Javat in trade alliances. The scions of Javat are focused, steady, and mechanically attuned—close to the machines that have made the fortune of their Great House. De Valtos SyndicatePrices are negotiable “You need to spend money to make money.” (De Valtos proverb) De Valtos is known for its influence and wealth, secured through its manufacturing expertise and extensive trade network. Within its meritocracy, positions of leadership are open to those who, through running a successful company, prove they can provide for themselves and their Family (their family and employees). De Valtos leaders prize generosity and will publicly shower others with gifts to show the depths of their pockets and hearts. The scions of De Valtos are focused and professional, yet charming. They highly value classical education—in the arts of diplomacy, finance, and swordplay. They seldom value wealth for its own sake, contrary to what the scions of other Factions may think, and will show more respect to newly built wealth than to inherited fortune. They expect more and are willing to spend to get or create the best; their high standard of living often surprises the scions of other Factions.

Thanks Sinocelt! One thing that we need to do for all the factions is start getting information from the game into those page. I'm thinking of things like the bonuses that each faction has, that you see on the character creation screen when you pick a faction. I think there are other things too, like certain factions lean towards different conflicts, but I don't know all that stuff yet. Anyways. if you're working on factions and you have a good way to start adding some of that, that would be awesome. And I though the Javat proverb was "If you're afraid to DIG, you're afraid to live."

Considering the time it took me to do this short rewriting to my satisfaction, I'd be wise to stop there. And I though the Javat proverb was "If you're afraid to DIG, you're afraid to live." The original version: 'If you can never die you cannot truly live'-A Javat phrase.

Even that is wrong though. I'm sure it's "If you can never DIG you cannot truly live."

Sinocelt - Thanks for the edits! Did you mean to add <br/> tags to the wiki content? If so, its not very advantageous and in fact I'd ask that we try to avoid it.

Even that is wrong though. I'm sure it's "If you can never DIG you cannot truly live." I agree that the current quote doesn't sound very Javat. But "dig" is already part of their motto. Why not replace the proverb entirely? "Look at the stars, but keep your feet in the dirt." Or something like that. Sinocelt - Thanks for the edits! Did you mean to add <br/> tags to the wiki content? If so, its not very advantageous and in fact I'd ask that we try to avoid it. It allowed me to insert more space between - the motto and the sample proverb
- the sample proverb and the two paragraphs
than between the two paragraphs. How else would you achieve this effect?

You could put the text into block quote?
On the quotes and mottos - please, add both. We want to express the character of the people, and it can't be done in a single expression.

You could put the text into block quote? Which text? Everything is text. On the quotes and mottos - please, add both. We want to express the character of the people, and it can't be done in a single expression. I did add both. Only, my original formatting made it much clearer which was the motto and which just a sample proverb.
