What is your Favorite Faction?

I'm trying for this Dark Nemesis award yet again....Advice on which two factions are best to anger?

I think I need to nice up the the dumb Rycharts or the DeValos because they control some seriously nice green dots in the top left quadrant.

Cadar all the way. They're ruthless bastards, and you can always rely on the fact that you'll pretty much be in the best warships. Yay for murdering masses!

So far it looks like the Cadar Syndicate is leading; so does that seem to be the consensus of the Forum?

If you don't say you like the Cadar, you'll probably get torped.

It'd be cool to have an Independents alignment. Perhaps something that makes the game harder but offers certain rewards.

As far as starting clan I almost always choose javat. You start right next to not one but two planets with l10 danger and l10 exploration. Sometimes I get unlucky but I can usually reach rank 18 and have a fat bank account within less than 20 minutes regardless of difficulty settings. It seems to me the most consistent way to get ahead on the tougher difficulties. As far as long term clans go....I try to stay buddy buddy with steel song. I tend to be well despised as the game progresses and having a repair/refuel base in both clan and syndicate space is crucial to my survival.

Despite the fact that Steel Song really deserve every bit of shrapnel I can fling at them ... they killed my father! No ... they ARE my father! No ... they CLONED my father! Hey, I just got off topic. Let me retrain my turrets a bit.

so ... Despite the fact that Steel Song are sooo asking to be obliterated (simply begging for it) ... they do seem to control large swathes of key territory. Any time you want to go venturing to the south-west quadrant of the map you're in SS territory. I guess that's a good thing because I often am seen there flying up and down the SS corridor (You know, that single strip of nav points from Xeen Prime downward). It's like the perfect fishing hole because you know you're most likely going to come across SS game fish.

Also, blockading Xeen Prime for no other reason than to pass time is very therapeutic.

As much as I like to sink the SS ships, they do seem to run out of artifacts and pay top dollar in my games.

Also, they didn't strip me of my rank when I went to -15 with them for a short while due to a trade embargo. The pirates left me alone, but the military put me in the clink for a spell when I acknowledged their patrol. Fair cop, that.

My preference these days is for Rychart, because I appreciate their diplomatic approach to factional bastardry.

However, I find I associate classes with factions. My Star traders are Rychart, Explorers are mostly Javat, Captains are mostly Thulun, Bounty Hunters De Valtos, and Pirates Steel Song.
