It must be that modification added to the Slayernz cruiser that releases deathblossom.

Yeah, but the moon deserved it.

I'm thinking if he was Cadar than he was probably actually aiming at the moon and that poor ship was just unlucky enough to get hit by his poor marksmanship.

Cadar NEVER misses. It was likely that he was firing a warning shot at the moon ...
Captain Maduke paced the bridge, staring in consternation at the forward viewport while fidgeting with his remote torp-launch keychain. "Damnit," he muttered to himself, "why won't they move". "First officer, hail them again - I'm getting close to losing my patience!".
The first officer looked up from his console. "Sir, I've been trying to tell you ..." "And I'm telling you, if you can't follow orders, get off my bridge! Never mind, put me on broadcast." The first officer sighed and reluctantly pressed the broadcast button, and the captain announced "This is the Cadar Warship Impervious. Please be advised that you are currently in our flight path, and if you continue to refuse to move, we will be forced to fire on you. According to Cadar Law #198.36, as a Slayernz class warship, we have right of way."
The first officer tried once again to get through to the Captain. "Sir, that's no Space Station. It's a moon!"
"It's too small to be a moon", retorted the Captain
The Political officer piped up "I have a very bad feeling about this".
"This is ridiculous," the Captain growled, "Adams, fire a warning shot. What's our biggest energy weapon - we'll show this bastard we mean business".
Weapons Officer Adams replied, "Sir, the largest energy weapon we have is Death Blossom, but traditionally, warning shots are done with torps as they return if they don't hit a target"
"Don't tell me about my ordinance boy. Fire the damned weapon and make it look scary!"
Adams powered up the prototype weapon, entered the appropriate activation codes. "Sir, the weapon is primed, and will fire four seconds after the it is engaged".
"Fire the warning shot!"
Adams hit the button and counted off the timer "Four ... Three ... Two ... One ..."
"... Hey, what's that Templar Pirate ship doing on Long Range Sensors ..."

Face it Cadars love of Torps is strictly due to the fact that they have all the gunnery skills of a two year old flipping their mashed potatos with a spoon. Unfortunates hit by their guns generally made the mistake of trying to move out of what most would consider to be the direct line of fire and thereby moved into the randomly placed fire of the Cadar gunners.
