Hi. I've recently gotten back into TA after upgrading Smartphones. I'm also an amateur artist with a real love for the subject matter and would like to contribute some fan art.
I've run multiple google searches and have a general idea of the look of the Leviathan armor and what looks to be a belt-fed weapon, probably a Neptune. Is there any decent artwork around of the Leviathan or light version guns? I also took the Xeno artwork I found and played around with it but would love to see more if available.
I have a long list of games and ROMs on my phone, but ST and TA are my go-to mobile games so this is a no-brainer for me. I'm at work now but will scan and upload the lineart and sketches I have later on.

Here s what I've come up with so far. It's not much- in fact the only inked lineart is this Templar wearing standard Leviathan and carrying a standard Leviathan gun. Or least my interpretation of one since I could never get a good look at one. Its based off a KSG twin-magazine shotgun- when it comes to putting very large holes in things at close range, I can't help but think of one. This one I'm working on having had his helmet torn off or otherwise removed in combat, with plenty of fuchsia colored Xeno blood all around. This here is pretty self explanatory. I had a thought that the sensor/camera array in the faceplate projects both the image of whats in front and around the trooper and a heads up display of consumables, suit integrity, gas mix, health, reactor status, ect by means of a pair of cyber contact lenses. When the helm is removed the suit can still project pertinent information from any other sensors, team mates, ect as well as the suit. Just an idea for fluff. Some more quick Leviathan sketches and ideas for a fleet assault transport and shuttle Humanoid Xeno very loosely based on the partial image on the game title page. I'm assuming theres all kinds and will mix things up with multipede designs as wwell eventually. Last image of humanoid Xeno: I don't have anything to work from to try for something Narvidian. In fact all I know bout them is that they are self replicating robot type creatures. I can totally dig that so lastly, another kind of robotic creature I did a few months ago. fc02.deviantart.net/fs70/i/2013/103/3/5/aquamarine_copy_by_dayanx-d61nna5.jpg

Wow dayan, awesome work! I don't have much time (at work) right now, but I'll come in and post more later. From what I've gathered the Leviathan suits are more like mechs (think mechwarrior) than suits of actual armor. Cory Trese or fallen might be able to give you a little more input though

Well, Cory describes them like that, but I've never seen any TA art that follows it. If the game art is meant to follow what Cory says, Templar captain heads are half a meter wide. Just saying!

Amazing work! I especially like the first knight and the scout. The Narvidian dawn campaign shows the Narvidians looking a bit like robot beetle centaurs with heads like ST artifacts image. Pretty awsome design that my description doesn't do much for.

Thanks everyone. it sounds like the Leviathans are closer akin to Land Mates: I'm completely okay with this. I just wonder how they can fit down ship corridors at ALL at that scale.

Took a quick shot at a Narvidian. I didn't know if the weapon was held by an arm or WAS the arm, or perhaps is a replacement for an arm. Or maybe the weapon is meant to be mounted over the shoulder. That makes me wonder if Narvs are all uniform and always look the same or if over the years they have made personal modifications. But nonetheless the gun looks like it can punch a hole through a ship's hull without too much trouble.

dayan, wow! I finish up 2 and a half hours of work or so and come back to even more awesome artwork. How long does it take you to pump out these drawings? Are we looking at just some quick sketches, or have you been tooling on these works for a while. Regardless, really awesome work. I don't have an artistic bone in my body, so whenever I see these kinds of things I always get jealous. Also, those land mates look exactly what I envisioned leviathan suits to work like. Again, I'm no expert on the topic at all, but I think you just about nailed them on that one. Again, really awesome work. I especially like your Narvidian and Xeno drawings. If I may make a small request..... Hydra! I love Hydras more than just about any other unit (although recently I've been loving the Berserkers something fierce) so it would be cool to see someone's artistic rendition of them. Any plans on adding a bit of color to the sketches, or are you a black and white kind of guy?

Thanks, man. I'm better with color, but perspective and multiple light sources can mess me up some. With the exception of the inked lineart suit and the Narvidian and the which I just did the others were roughly sketched at work. The hydra is a heavy machine gun, and from the fluff kind of reminds me of the 2005 movie version of the DOOM BFG 9000. I tell you what, when I Megazord these suits I'll take a swing at one. I'm a fan of rotary barrel and chambered weapons so there might be something like it under the armored housing. As far as what I'm doing now is a layout similar to this where the hands of the wearer are recessed well into the inboard side of the forearms. Similarly the feet are about at the mid foreleg of the suit, making the unit about 8-8.5 feet tall. Those would be some gargantuan ship's corridors otherwise. Pictured is a suit designed for construction and heavy labor. Its on the scale I'm thinking of for the Leviathans.

dayan - awesome work all around! Very cool work and I really like what you're doing. Keep sharing, its great. Your latest post is just about right for the size and scale of Leviathan armor -- the armor is 8" tall, and the Templar Knight is the size of a normal human, roughly six foot and athletic as a race. Your Narvidian is right on, and in many cases one arm -is- a weapon. If you are looking for a closer model for the head, definitely check the artifact image from Star Traders. The shape of the Narvidian constructs skull cavities are different, and the warrior models that face off against the Templars have elongated skulls.

New study of the Leviathan and a rough idea for the Neptune HMG. Focus is made on how the legs and feet work. Dont worry, all these sketches will result in some color eventually. Its just a complicated process to learn new tech and biological stuff. Ill do some ships too. Just not sure who uses which on that master ST chart. Ill get to it eventually

Id stick this in the previous post but my mobile phone and I have been having words. I'm not sure of this ship's class name or who its produced by but its artwork is blue and is one of my favorites im going to assume the boxy projections in the forward dorsal areas are cargo expansion mods. Keeping the basic draft here slick and free of visible weapons.

dayan - I love that ship design too. One of the very first ones of the production lines when I was handed the task of making ships for Star Traders 3 years ago. Wow, I had no idea what I was doing I have attached a higher res shot of a Templar soldier for your reference. I don't think you can really get at these in the game -- you can just see a much smaller copy when you are getting in-game dialog. We have been playing with the idea that from the main menu there would be a "Learn More about the Templar Knights" button that would take you to a content area ... this content area would be full of facts, small stories, history explanations, and all the images we could pack in there. All of the content except the first two blurbs would be "unlockable" requiring you to beat different campaigns to learn more. Attachments:

Oooh this helps a LOT. Itll be a shame to ditch the KSG but this fits the mood of the game better. The Neptune I think Im following your lead for the most part. Ill tear the leviathan gun down later on as im working on the red default ship at present.
The thing with sci fi starships is that vaccuum dont care about aerodynamics. When you interface with air its a different story, but thats what fluff is for. No worries man. I like your work better in some ways because its relative simplicity translates to small semi-animated sprites easier. And I love lifting body designs like this too.
