Worldsoftrese sounds good, as does Shalun@blogspot - and if you want writing, I'm up for writing (I've been wanting to do some ST writing, but I've never actually got around to it).

Excellent. The more the merrier. Artists too. I did say that id like to do some illustrating for fanfics. Perhaps a color splash page and some b&w lineart inserts if I have time.
What I REALLY wand to do is a weekly or bi-weekly serial comic. Its iffy right now between work at the real job and side work writing for a blog. I think I might use an officer here and there as a 'guest star'. Except for the Templar, Exo Environment guy and pilot because what you see of them are mainly their suits anyway.

Whatever you do don't use the term adult content in a disclaimer... Say mature content or subject matter.
As for names... The Warriors Journal... Covers all genres New Boston Zone Public Library... One of my favorites but a little narrow. ;D

paxdad - great suggestions. 1. I wonder how everyone else thinks about this? That might help make it more generally available or easy to find. It would take a little while to move all the threads, but .. rabidbite and dayan - thoughts? 2. Anything going onto the blog would need to get linked to on the forum. 3. I'd rather not get involved in policing the creativity of others, but with the goal to draw others to the games, community and forum -- that is a good general rating. 4. We'll definitely be bringing traffic to the site via our social channels, etc. A first starting point would be deciding a domain name ... flufffactory.blogspot.com? Lol, ... something more serious? Something short or easy to spell is always a winner. a) I am confused about, "It would take a little while to move all the threads". Does that mean the fan fiction in the Captain's Log would be deleted from the forum and moved to the blog? How would this be enforced for new fan fiction? b) I think the goal to expand the community is great. However this forum has 2,387 registered users. This offers the Author a smaller community of like minded people to comment, and participate in the stories. It is a degree of intimacy you cannot get from the massive scrutiny, and literary criticism in a Google enviornment. In my opionion, it should always be up to the Author where to publish the story. In my opionion new fiction should not be limited to posting in a blog with a link back to the forum. The door to posting stories on the forum should remain open with the option to link to a blog. c) Viewing habits; I do not use blogs. My one stop shop is the forum. I will probably not bother the go to another location to read fan fiction, or view art. Stats: There are a total of 143 threads in the fan fiction sections of all games combined. Not all of them are art or stories. I think of the blog as a enhancement to current social media. Splitting into a writers group is a very real possiblity. How do you control it when someone posts new fiction on the forum? Does someone police the forum, and move your threads when you don't want them made available to the general public? d) I was working instensively on a story. Lost it during a recent computer crash, and have since moved onto Google docs. I never worried about control of content on the forum. Now I feel inhibited about writing fan fiction because I wonder if I have no vote in the future to it's location on the web.

A few ideas to call out the fan fiction/art and keep things cohesive... 1 Currently the forums are grouped by game. Make a new parent section for fan contributions and group all of the current fan fiction/art forums under as sub forums. That is one idea for making things more visible on the current forum. 2 Have an unwritten rule that if an author submits a new work to the blog that same author posts a link to it in the appropriate forum. 3 I have encountered one or two really dark pieces floating around. I know we deal in the "dark" future but lets keep things relatively family friendly around a PG13 rating. (My Opinion of Course) 4 Link to it in as many places as possible and link back to the forums. These are just a few quick ideas of course hope they help. Regarding Censorship (item 3). I took the time to read all of your posts. I could not find any objections to other authors content being inappropriate, or not PG13. In the upper right hand corner you can select a post to report to admin. Do blogs have this feature? I do not know the average age of the forum members, their style suggests a degree of maturity. Opinions about morality have created tremendous polarization in today's world. I agree with you one man's PG13 is another's XXX. The question is how to avoid evangelists wanting to make the world a better place. I am making a mountain out of a mole hill. Considering the millions of internet users this blog surely could not be big enough to become a lightning rod. Who then forms the council of Elrond to protect viewers from our published content? Will stories with objectionable content simply have lines blacked out like government documents, or removed entirely? Does the author have a court of appeals to repost?

John Robinson I think rabidbite said it best. Community governed. Which means if the blog doesn't have a report a post feature, it will have an email the admin feature which I imagine can be assigned to direct mail to anyone listed as an admin. I think that would work best and rely on peoples common sense.

A Currently there is one writing forum for each game and it is nested under that particular game. The point of this suggestion was to possibly take each writers sub-forum out from it's respected game and nest them under a Fan Fiction parent category. This was not to delete or combine these forums, or move them to the blog. Simply to move them under a new parent. I did not realize you can't just move an entire forum in one operation though. Also it was just a suggestion for the group to consider, not necessarily my preference. B Agree. No one was going to force anyone to publish on the Blog. That would be voluntary. The point of this was that items posted to the blog should have a link posted to the appropriate forum so that discussion could occur and there could be interaction between both mediums. C Covered above. Forums would operate as today. d Awesome to hear you were working on a piece. Feel free to post in the forum! Would love to check it out.

To write as you already know requires imagination. In this case my imagination was wonder fuel for paranoia. Nesting under a Fan Fiction parent category is a great idea. The sooner the better, because more games are being produced, creating more fan fiction. To lighten the workload, could Cory or Andrew grant temporary admin privlages to someone to migrate existing threads? As good as my foot tastes, thanks for helping me get it out of my mouth. Serving up another round of Karma for another helpful member.

Well, the really annoying thing is that you cannot have a board in two places simultaneously. So we could keep them in each forum, and also link them together under a new forum. This is one of the great advantages of being digital -- the whole 'a thing can only be in one place at once time' rule goes out the window, unless, of course somebody decides that this limitation is one they want to continue to have.

john robinson - in regard to your A) I was only talking about moving existing threads to a "Fan Fiction" section of the forum, not to the blog. Just responding to someone's suggestion. rabidbite - treserpg.blogspot.com does not sound bad. There seems to be some feedback from the rest of the group that we should just work harder on carving out a space on our pre-existing community for fan fiction / art and give it a more prominent roll. I was just spit balling with the blogspot idea (it helps our marketing efforts to have another domain, with links, and valuable content ... ), but we could work on better integration here. Reminds me, #MK-1961 apply a TB skin to the forum. Maybe in that new world we can have a dedicated fan fiction area. I'd love to see the creative folks collaborating -- that was my true heart's wish.

I'm easy going about this. I don't mind working on the blog (good experience and probably a good place for drawings, which I quite enjoy) but not going to force the idea. I'm a lover, not a fighter. (Looks innocent as Gravling rolls her eyes at him) What? rabid

I dont mind the existing boards at all with the addition of an art/fiction 'fluff factory'. They think that an extra website can help their marketing and I agree. I had a friend of mine that worked for a web service. They built websites but they also knew how to optimize the site to get the best search engine hits. You might try something like that too. In fact ill do some digging on it later if I think of it.
