Do you have other issues with text entry on that Device + Build + ROM combination? The text box works on a dozen reference devices and it is about as vanilla as they come. Scratching my head how the default Android text box with no options would misbehave on a single device or Android version and act normally on all others. Questions that might have the answer: * Do you play landscape? * Have any accessibility or screen readers turned on? * Do you use a custom theme or Android keyboard? * Do you use a custom or homebrew ROM? No - I play portrait. No - none of those. Regular Android keyboard. The ROM is whatever comes with the phone. As to "fallen" question: I never have any problem typing the captain names for New Games. As soon as I select "new game", the cursor will be at the "captain's name" textbox. That textbox never looses focus. You can select whatever dropdowns you want and you can see the flashing cursor there when you scroll back to view. The keyboard will be opened and stay open the whole time even if I select the other settings in the captain creation. That by itself is annoying in some way as I really need to scroll to see what else are there further down. In this situation, Star Traders and I are not making any decisions about how the interface will behave -- it is determined by the settings and options in your Android OS. Our other games, like Heroes of Steel, we implemented our own interface layer, but in Star Traders RPG, we use the Android user interface layer. In Android, when an input field becomes activated, the OS activates the keyboard, adding it to the screen as an overlay, and accepting input from the keyboard for the input field regardless of the current display of the field, or it's position in a scrolling view. At this time, the input field is said to be "Focused." Under most Android OS and keyboard configurations and combinations you hide the keyboard overlay by pressing the 'Back' hardware button, or the 'Slide Down' software button. I only have experience with the top 10 or so of these, but there are indeed hundreds if not thousands of them available, but I suspect they all work this way to remain compatible with Android OS compliant programs like Star Traders RPG. Re-reading the posts you've put up on this thread, I'm now confused because it almost sounds like both screens are working correctly. I'm trying to see if there is just a misunderstanding here on how Android's IME keyboard works, or if there is a bug somewhere in the OS or our screen for the OS version you have. Any additional details or responses, much appreciated. I've e-mailed with dozens of users about the designer, as well as receiving numerous screenshots, so I know that the IME configuration in the Ship Designer is working for most Android OS users.

Your guess is way better than mine. I am a .NET developer not an Android or iOS developer. You might be able to guess I could be an IT dev by the ways I describe the issues and how I describe certain UI elements..... Therefore workarounds and hacks are acceptable to me. If I cannot change the names, I will just have to look at the settings to see what is what. I doubt I will have too many ships anyway.

Darnit, I have an S4 and experience the exact same thing as HLO - my ship name was locked in as "New Class" until I renamed it after purchase. I've unlocked almost every modifier - I have only got the victory in 800 battles. I'm sitting at 495 battles right now. 150 contracts completed yesterday. Resulting Ship - Slayerz NR1 (New Reaper designation 1) Hull 25 Armor 12 Engines 50 Sails 50 Crew 72 Hold 160 (204 after upgrades) Guns 28 Torps 12 Fast/Quick Water Consumption 1.44 Red, 0.00Green (that's because pilot is at 90) I need to get more guns, and as soon as I do, I'll have Slayerz NR2 with max guns. The ship suits my gunbunny attitude so has minimum crew. The NR2 will probably have a few extra crew just in case some die

One of my favorite pass times is finding and reporting Android bugs to Google. While this one won't probably be as exciting as "Sound Effect Looping No Longer Works" if it is a bug it is great to get these reported to Google.
Usually once we figure out what version and and stuff we just add an "if version = X do additional silly step here."
I'll get an S4 tomorrow and do some testing with it flashed back to bone stock.

For what it's worth, I've got a GT-I9505 running Android 4.3 stock ROM. Kernel version is 3.4.0-2082040

hlo : a workaround is to enter the military base just after you created your ship and hit "rename ship". Hope that helps

I can't change the name of ships either.
Portrait. Big Buttons keyboard from play store. If i hold my finger on the button to change name, it allows me to select all but does not bring onscreen keyboard up.
Samsung Galaxy Young GT-S5360 android 2.3.6.
I've noticed there are duplicate ship designs as well. The red slim ship is in the list a few times as well as its counterpart, the blue slim ship.

I figured out the naming issue. Fixed in next!
There will always be duplicates in the list, that cannot be fixed.

Hello everybody! Cory Trese, it seems you always find a way how to lurk people back to your games, do you not? I have two comments: 1) I am not sure about the latest version, but the previous version of the designer just let me know that my design is invalid for a reason, but I did not have an idea that there are related unlocks needed until I got back to the forums. 2) It is great that the designer uses the same constrains as you have always used, however I am disappointed. I wanted to build a slight tweak to Omega Cruiser. I did not even get close to original ship, this is as close as I got: Omega cruiser: 15 15 33 38 180 90 30 21 Designer: 15 7 33 38 70 79 29 14 I really hoped to at least start from the OC design and tune it a bit - even in balanced way, like removing something to be able to add something else. I would be fine even with really high price. Also even the most expensive ship I was able to build was really cheap, about 1M$.
