I did go buffed and led with a stealth character. But it is possible to lose a stealth roll regrdless of your stat, as far as I can tell. And if that happens, a non-tank character has a good chance of dying. Hence, regardless of what precautions you take, you have a chance to insta-die before you can even move. This is not a good game design. Simply sounds like a bug. What direction were you coming from? I can fix. I think I was going from west to east.

In the Temple of Arachnid, and I have no idea how to get to the final level. I see the locked door on the top left. But I cannot open it. Where is the trigger? Help Edit: I found the missing trigger.

Torrent Swamp fight when you are placed in a makeshift barricade, and you get it from the front by Kretes and from behind by Trolls...
How are you supposed to do this fight? I keep dying, and I am completely stumped.

achilles73 - nasty fight. Want to share some of the details of the strategy you are trying to use? Oops. I did not see this thread was updated. Anyways: I was trying to strip AP first with Kyera and Vincent and then burn the ranged down with Kyera and Vincent - and block the entrances with Selen and Kincaid. It didn't work, mainly because there were too many Kretes for Kyera's 1-shot per turn Banishment and Vincent's Lightening Spear was too low level to hit anything yet. So I got overwhelmed. Selen then went through a respec where she picked up some Bow Skills and Pinning Shot. Then I had enough to burn everything down from distance quickly, and the fight was a cake. And every fight since then has been a cake. Having 2 competent ranged characters - especially with serious AoE - seem to be the way to go in this game so far.

Well, then don't do any of these. Always be buffed, especcially when entering a new map, and raise your stealth via skill, talent and gear. I win practically every stealth roll on nightmare, so it's clearly doable on lower difficulties. The issue is not that the battle is not beatable but rather that entering battle directly from a town map is unique in the game. There is no reason that a player would expect this based on prior game mechanics. Thus, it is a low surprise that will risks death for a player on the first time through for no reason. May be if Kincaid had a warning dialogue to be ready for anything while in town near the exit. Like in Oskahold. The fact that a single misstep in town could put the party in battle seems to be a flaw and not an intended game challenge. I am seconding this comment by phaze. My brutal ironman game just ended because I entered this map and it put Vincent out front to get chopped down by wolves before I could do anything. I was level 20 with Selen leading the party at 25 stealth. Like I said, not only did I apparently lose the stealth roll, it also put Vincent out front for some reason. Suuuuuuppppeeeerrrrr lame. I will be taking a serious break from playing for a while. Pretty lame to get 100+ hours into a game and then have it just $^&% you.....

dagger - any idea what map? Was Vincent leading, or just very badly placed?

It was Ironwood Ridge prior to deciding on Braeys or Koda. I was trying to follow the max XP thread and I was just done with Orcin Stronghold boss fight. I checked in at the inn at Braeyshaulm, spoke to some of the family, and headed to Ironwood Ridge. I may or may not have buffed. I can't remember although I'm pretty religious about it so I probably did. Either way, Selen was leading. I entered the map and it put me in a diamond formation with Vincent at the bottom of the diamond, which was closest to the battle and furthest from the entrance. The map immediately popped up the Evil bar in the corner and two or three wolves ended Vincent before I even knew what was happening. Not cool.

Really sorry about this I have taken #3435 to move that combat so that it can't possibly fire when you are entering the map. It will be fixed for the next, but I know that is no consolation.

No worries. It is only a computer game after all...but I'm glad you're fixing it. I'm ready to do Nightmare anyway. Thanks for caring though. It really is nice to have real people with the ability to actually make changes on the other end of these things. Keep up the good work! I'll probably try this again after the next content update....

Is this fixed...? I just did that map and was pretty sure I went straight into combat... Maybe I moved a little? Gah, I have such a terrible memory!

It is only fixed if we posted to the thread saying "#3435 is fixed for next".
I can confirm it is not fixed.

I can confirm that it still immediately enters you into combat and you take fire. I didn't die this time and I didn't think to check who was out front but...Tamilin always leads my party with stealth. Not sure who took the brunt of the blows so maybe the placement of the party has been "fixed" but they still immediately get attacked with no warning. Maybe you could put a little dialogue in before you leave Braeyshaulm and enter this map letting people know that they should be prepared for an ambush and they may want to consider going full parry/dodge gear for the first fight. That might be easier than trying to "fix" the placement/battle issue. That way, at least you know its coming. I was fully buffed as always so I survived but it gave me cold sweats helplessly watching my team get blindsided....yikes!

Can anyone help me find the 9th secret door in the Temple of the Arachnid? I found 8 but I can't seem to find the ninth and I have a bad case of completionism This gallery shows the eight I have ( spoilers) imgur.com/a/qZIZfXX
