"One more turn then I'll eat dinner mom." "Jimmy you said that an hour ago"

"Mmm it's already 1:30am, I should finish this Xenox wave and sleep"
>2 ships later
"Oh hey look, another 4 ships joined the party, can't leave my colonies like this"

Green tile expansion will be a result of tech & upgrade building! Quick question about this; So I know that the green zone will expand through tech and planetary upgrades, but will there be an option for other expansion methods? Maybe a starbase type construction that is maintenance heavy and comparatively weak, but able to broadcast it's own green zone? Would be kind of a fun thing, and allow the player to "build" highways between distant check points.

Sounds like a well travelled trade route. An interstellar highway with occasi9nal "gas stations"

fallen - Cool, just an idea and if it's not possible I totally understand. I was thinking, much like dayan, of little "rest stop" like stations. In my mind they would be pretty vulnerable to attack, maybe with just some light, light defensive weaponry. Enough to stand up to independent pirates, but not an actually attack. I was also just seeing them popping out a 2x2 or 3x3 cross shaped green zone, just enough to provide a little oasis but nothing overly crazy. They would be very helpful for peacetime or internal transport, but next to useless for combat use unless escorted.

Maybe fractions can own it and you have to pay a toll to dock and gas there?

kyleobrien is actually on to something, you could possibly have a whole treaty system built around it. That would help make the ST politics even more heartbreaking haha.

Example could be that Cadar and De Valtos have a treaty. Cadar builds a "gas station" between Cadar Prime and De Valtos Prime. Due to the treaty De Valtos gets cheap gas. Maybe 50% off. All od a sudden Cadar decides to torp De Voltos, now for De Valtos maybe the price is 125% regular price. Hope y'all can follow this.

I like it, but what if you only have the original 3 colonies and Cadar and De Valtos are several squares apart? Just thinking out loud. Unless you mean the player puts the station there. Sorry, brain crashed. Lol

In the dark age, these could be automated gas mining stations in geosynchronous orbit around certain gas giants to extract and hold hydrogen, oxygen, methane, and assuming water fuel means heavy water used in nuclear fusion, that too. Hell some nebulae are composed ENTIRELY of ethyl alcohol. Fuel or frat party. You decide.
After the colonization of the Farfallen rift, these could have been demolished to deny narvidians or xenos from using the stations or to comply with Shalun laws against certain levels of automation, but the way the Templar get around they probably have hidden ones, like the manned supply post placed just outside Quadrant charts in my comic.

Why not both? Nebulae are the universe's liquor cabinets!
