I am curious to see what ideas you guys have in store for both CK and STRPG's futures. I personally have several ideas I'd like to share eventually, but considering how early into development CK still really is, and STRPG is has been fleshed out a lot since I first saw it, I don't want to overburden you guys more than you already are. It would be a bit different if there was more than just the two of you working on these projects.

hashassin - not exactly... no, not really at all. The main common thing is that they are both built upon a Trese Brother's developed game engine for RPGs called StoryTeller. It allows for massively scalable, data driven, generally awesome RPG development. SoS was the first game planned to be released with StoryTeller, but it's timeline was simply too long and we wanted to get StoryTeller in front of you, the customer (yes, specifically you!) to see what you think and to crush all the buggies that are lurky. SoS will use the same underlying engine as CK but will feature extremely different story elements, game play, systems, art, etc. I think the differences will be extremely notable when its all said and done.

Ps. I hope you enjoy the artwork. I started drawing about the same time Cory started writing lines of Java code for Star Traders (~6 months ago). So, play nice with your criticism, cause I'm just a beginner.

The spy in ST: RPG is pretty hot. And I kinda dig the mechanic too, she reminds me of Kayly from Firefly. The Political Officer is a little washed-out-porno-chic for my tastes, but that's cool, she probably SHOULD look that way given what she does with spice . .. ..
As for Ol' Turdlip, if he wasn't that ugly we wouldn't hate him that much. Oh wait, yes we would!
So I think even your early artwork is pretty good. CK seems to be improving, so you're getting better! (which beats the inverse)

Vinny the Rat seems to have a funny head. I just assume his head is one giant tumor from all the radioactive exposure they have in New Boston.

Vinny is related to Turd Lip.

I know you're always busy working on new artwork ... but do you think that for STRPG, you might come up with several portraits for each type of officer. That way you get a teeny bit of variety with your encounters ... like having a mechanic that actually has 2 eyes (I always thought depth perception was important in working on machinery <grin> )

And to add to that, perhaps someday have captain portraits as well?
Yeah, I know, wrong board. But Slayer started it!

Andrew, check out the first edition Shadowrun rpg book artwork. The line drawing stuff (I forget the artist name) for the archetypes is what I used when I first started sketching way-back-when. I didn't continue any kind of pursuit, but the style sticks with me when I doodle at my desk. Same style is used in some Traveller books, always appealing. Perhaps too cartoony for what you're going for, but I always liked it.

Both Cory and I love the futuristic sci-fi genre to death and we will not be able to stop ourselves from working on CK. It means a temporary hiatus for SoS, which will be resurrected when the StoryTeller is ready to tell that story (looking like 2012). Hurrah! This is the Year of SoS! The Mayan Calendar probably stopped for this event! ;D

Am I the only one who thinks of a certain Cimmerian when he reads 'secrets of steel' ?
