Ahh.... background story eh... Didn't you guys already ran a few fantasy RPGs on P&P? I'm sure if you ran a few consecutive ones on a self-made world, it should be pretty rich by now. Unless you've been using Adventure Packs all this while... For SHAME! . ;D

We are an anarcho-syndicalist commune which take it in turns to be a sort of executive officer for the week, whose supreme executive power derives from a mandate from the masses, but all the decisions of that officer have to be ratified at a special bi-weekly meeting by a simple majority in the case of purely internal affairs but by a two thirds majority in the case of non-universal conformity.

Help! Help! I'm being repressed! Y'know, it'd be really cool to have some of these stuff in SoS. ;D @cory- BTW, would SoS be a game with an ending this time? Also, may I suggest to NOT have difficulty levels on this game cos if you do, it might play like NetHACK minus the random dungeon? Instead, you could set the difficulties on specific quests or locales. I will list my ideas and the reason for doing so. 1) Actual death should only be reserved for fighting against certain monsters (those that will eat your body or cause it to be disintegrated into nothingness), dying in a particular way (falling into molten lava) and a Load Saved Game should spare us a LOT of grief. Reason- You have mentioned that this game is HUGE, about 10 times larger than CK. If that is true, death (other than those whose danger are apparent instead of totally random) dissuades exploration. 2) Permadeath is for NetHACKs. Simply a challenge for delving deeper, looting richer and becoming stronger. Thus, there is no need for character develpoment (y'know, sorta like playing Space Invaders with more variables). Suffice to say Permadeath should be removed. Reason- When you have start having goals, dreams, rivals and friends in the game... It sucks really bad to see it becoming zilch. I didn't mind it on ST or TA, but I mind quite a bit on CK. 3) Side Quests should also exist along the main plot. Suggested are arena fights, herb foraging, treasure hunting, map charting, villain killing (bounty hunts), damsel rescuing, monster harvesting, caravan escorting and performing certain skill-specific actions. Reasons- These Side Quests should all be labelled with difficulty levels in the form of Slightly Dangerous, Mildly Dangerous, Somewhat Dangerous, Quite Dangerous, Very Dangerous and Extremely Dangerous. With the last 3 difficulties having a chance of death. 4) Lock up certain locations until we advance further into the main plot to discover the Secrets of Steel. Reason- As we progress further, with implementation of (1), the environment and monsters gets more and more hazardous with higher chances of death.

Help! Help! I'm being repressed! Y'know, it'd be really cool to have some of these stuff in SoS. ;D <snip lots of neat stuff> I completely agree. The only reason I am playing CK on brutal is because I am so familiar with it -- so I wanted another way to get a thrill. It's a nice option for those who have explored everything more or less completely -- but it would inhibit exploration if it was the default.

See? Even the sole voice of female reasoning in this forum agrees with me. ;D I'm female. But if there is such a thing as *female reasoning'* I am in no way the voice of it The sort of women who believe in the sort of thing they call 'female reasoning* also reject me completely for being unsure as to whether such a thing exists.

And that statement itself says that you do.
Since women by default are creatures whom are illogical, you are are certainly not the average woman since you recognise that trait while other women unreasonably denies it. ;D

I think the ability to be unreasonable is rather nicely well distributed between the sexes. Seems a part of 'basic humanity' to me.

I have wanted to see someone pull off an MMORPG SR in a very very long time. If I ever had any vote as to what game I would vote for towards going mmorpg via location based servers, etc..it would have to be CK of course....I have had a couple of different visions in my head... maybe one day...

The Steel Trilogy will still be built on StoryTellerCore. Without the STC we really won't be able to produce and maintain all of the games.
I love all the input and I think as we complete the first iteration of the game we will start to look at incorporating suggestions from the players. We are bound by our mission to stay true to our designs and that is no different for Star Traders, Templars or Steel.
