I'm in the same situation mate. To the point where I might just find a way to drop them off at a pawn broker. I still keep them though, hoping to get some poor fool.....I mean someone willing to part with credits. I must admit that I've not really done too much with the hacking side of the game, beyond obtaining the initial 50 units of Paydata that's in my head. I'm still not entirely sure what the point of the Matrix is as of yet. Beyond hacking to obtain (unsellable) data.

Until this last patch, I made 8000 credits from a single buyer once, only once. Now all my contacts stopped even talking about paydata. I assume this is Cory working on something specific.
The matrix will get a big overhaul soon I imagine. It's definitely on his "to-do" list, but there are loads of things on that list. So it's anybody's guess where and when that'll be.

I am excited about the matrix. I love where this game is going.

I'm wondering if hacking will eventually lead to being able to control security cameras and such, and allow us to influence the heat system that way. If not, that'd be pretty cool as a feature too.

Sounds cool Hate. I also thought that maybe hacking could influence a contract. So say for instance you've been sent to kill Mr X. You could do it one of a number of ways: 1) Go in Terminator like, gunning down everything in sight 2) Hack the buildings security and turn some of the droids against the bad guys (all dependant upon your hacking + electronics + intelligence skills) 3) Hack the buildings environmental controls and kill everyone living inside by raising the temperature / lowering the temperature. 4) Turn off the lights within the building, lowering the accuracy of everyone inside unless they have implants which would counter this. I.e Low Light Vision. 5) ?? Unless this is something outside of the scope of the game.

The only one on there that wouldn't really work is 3. I don't see any corporate building, even in the year 2271 or whatever its supposed to be, having some sort of "TROPICAL HEAT!" or "ARTIC STORM!" settings on their air conditioning units.

In some of those corp buildings, I've seen systems that were designed to be able to turn whole floors into secure and isolated laboratories. Not just tropical heat and arctic storm, but atmospheric pressure, certain spectrum radiation, and all sorts of gasses are installed in those systems in order to have the environments needed to research and develop nanotechnology.

And how much fun is THAT to hack? The difficulty is that they are usually self-contained systems, and isolated from the rest of the vent system. I see no reason why we couldn't hack the temp though to at LEAST give us favorable operating conditions. Make it really cold or really hot and the guards sweat inside that armor or are too cold to shoot straight. But I doubt it. A more reasonable idea might be at HIGH levels of skill, hack the doors to the labs, hack the rest of the building (which is designed to quarantine in the event of a problem) and THEN you can flood the building with whatever evil thing you want. (Researching the next plague? MWA HAHAHAHA, eat some fire boys!!!)

The only times you're like to see those extreme temperatures even available are in areas that designed to be those temps to begin with. Labs with frozen embryos, bacterias, viruses, etc. would definitely have the colder temps, as would meat hangars and other freezer systems. On the flip-side would be foundries, atriums and greenhouses, etc.
Just something else to consider.

The contacts for selling paydata still work. Cory changed the programming so that the button to sell paydata doesn't show as an option if you don't have any paydata to sell to that contact. Each contact that buys paydata only buys paydata pertaining to one faction. So, if you have a load of paydata and none of your contacts wants to buy it then you don't have the correct contact yet.
