genji88 - the game is in BETA and building. The Gentleman king is another uncompleted ladder connector, who will be added in a future release.

Ah... Saw his title as Connector. Thought he was a buyer of paydata like you. Hahaha...

The Gentlemen King will offer jobs in a future release. At this time, he does not buy paydata, and will not in the future. He will be Knight Horizon ladder connector.

So... does that mean EACH faction will be having a similar figure who would do that?
Till this day, I only have Vinny as my only fixer. I really can't stand working for Los Vals. Look too much like ghetto pimps... (not that I hate them, just don't want to BE them).

blackgauntlet - one or more, most likely. Each faction will offer its own set of bonuses, some permanent, some temporary. As under-bosses and recruits enter the field, you will be picking your factions more seriously. For example, one of the best Knight Horizon runners will only work for you if you have completed the Gentleman King's "qualification ladder" and keep a certain level of rep with KH.

fallen - That sounds WAY cool. Now, if there's some way to collect contacts via safer means other than facing possible death by confronting every encounter when roaming the streets of NBZ. I find myself running from every mothers' sons (other than in the Streets or Los Vals territory; as they're bloody pushovers) and have most probably lost a lot of opportunities to obtain these crucial information along the way. My title is 'Legendary Coward' currently. With the way, I'm "working" the street, I'm surprised my title isn't 'Epic P*ssy' by now.

blackgauntlet - we are right there with you. My current character Eisenhorn is also a Legendary Coward (-92). There is a bug that the title is actually directly linked to your reputation with the Streets faction, which is not in the intention. It is supposed to be tracking you "bad @$# rating" instead of reporting that I kill a lot of indie hoodlums. Also, we know encounters are not the best right now. Its a big milestone for us to revamp them majorly and make them more exciting, contract-aware, heat-aware, reputation-aware, location-aware, and to take into account and highly benefit from cyber implants like cyber-eyes, toxin filtration breathing apparatus, etc. I am really excited to see us heading that direction, and there is a thread (http://startradersrpg.proboards.com/index.cgi?board=ckrpgtalk&action=display&thread=1029&page=3) listing some amazing ideas on how we are going to =) And, of course you just posted in there, so you know all about it!

Getting Texas as a random v-chip is a bit odd.

nails - as he is unwilling to talk to you? As we get a better encounter system, and many more ways to accumulate contacts, we will probably start dropping certain contacts (like Texas or Victor from the Blue Ox) from the random array, as you can find them on the NBZ by knowing the right people, or completing some jobs for some thugs.

I was just making a Wish List of stuff that include implants which would help CKs out in this horrible (but fun) environment.

nails - not sure about Ms. Grim. She will probably get a home eventually, and we are working on webs of contacts who are willing to share other contacts with you if you work for them, do special favors, have high enough rep, etc. blackgauntlet - does that include something to deal with the dome? The Hardskull implant?

blackgauntlet - does that include something to deal with the dome? The Hardskull implant? fallen - I figured you'd be onto that so I deleted that away. But mine was more like an Awareness Module implant (which increases Stealth and also provides higher chance to dodge falling Dome pieces) as opposed to an Implant that lets you do this. Kinda silly when you can buy a helmet...

What are the ladders that are currently implemented? I find myself wandering around areas for different factions with a full bar of green hoping to find a building or random event that will lead to faction progression, but I mostly just watch that beautiful rep bar drop from violence. It'd be nice to know I've just not found what I'm looking for or if I'm currently wasting my time as that road is still under construction. Mars has been the primary faction I've been doing this with at the moment.
