Do Sensors from ship design actually work? I have built a ship with 20 sensors and I have one with 3... they have the same sight range. Sensors modify Scanning Radius. More Sensors means more area is revealed with a single scan.

No difference. Ship with 3 sensors revealed area within 5 points radius, ship with 20 sensors did the same.

I believe either Cory Trese or fallen said it helped with dodge combat rolls a bit (not shown) and is something that isn't fully implemented...

What does Defense do? Does it allow me to actually not loose pop/quality when I choose to defend a planet or is it just for show?

Defense, if greater than or equal to your Upgrade levels, will give a very high chance of repelling Xeno attacks without damage to the Colony.

Thanks for starting this guide. It will help me give the game another go. Having been an avid player of the original Star Traders RPG I purchased this as soon as it came out, and gave up when I realised I just didn't understand what I was doing.
Hopefully the guide will make me understand the game better.

hordriss Glad to see you are giving it another go. This game is challenging, but stick with it! Have you watched the lets play videos? They give you a good grounding in the UI and other basics. And of course, feel free to post any specific questions on the forums. Good luck!

I want to get into the game as I really enjoyed the Star Traders RPG game once I got my head round how it all worked.

unless you are on iOS where apple is still about 4 versions behind We are just waiting on Apple at this point. Thankfully I'm on Android. And I will definitely replay the tutorial. I've just had to reinstall everything anyway after wiping my phone before sending it off for repair recently.

Is my understanding right that I can't control or predict population growth? And all my worlds will eventually overpopulate?
