The Gundeck Boss' Repair auto-save talent shares its name with the trait that can provide bonus Doctor skill on leveling. May be a good idea to rename it to "Meticulous Checklisting" or something to avoid possible confusion.

Might want to take another look at this thread's title. "Star Traders: Frontiers Update #242: Update #244: Spice Hall" is confusing about which update number this actually is

st-v02-25-8-97340091 There's nothing very special about this map, which is part of why I'm submitting it. It looks fairly default to me, and appears noob-friendly. The quadrants are neither too scattered nor too interconnected. This is good because it strikes a balance of mission givers being less likely to give you missions that put you in middle-of-nowhere isolated quadrants, and not having so varied target options that most offered missions would go in different directions. Steel Song and Alta Mesa starting quadrants have high danger at 16 and 12 respectively, but otherwise the starting quadrants are not bad.

it took me some time till I recruit one of scientists on board and give them talents working while in radiation storm (those giving intel and exp) and from what I see - non of those two didnt trigger yet. how do they works? should they triggered while flying in void or by moving to orbit? I haven't tried them myself, but I have heard that they conflict with storm protection talents like Storm Shielding

Interesting feedback! We'll keep an eye on it. A sniper can use this to great effect when they have low Init remaining, don't want to shoot to avoid Init Penalty but need something to help buff their next turn. That's true. I figured they'd use stealth in that situation, generally. I haven't used a Sniper in a while, but when I did I would use stealth buff as the first action, and use a buff like Eagle Eye when I didn't have enough init to fire without penalty, as Andrew says.

Tactical Micro Launch Bay 335 Mass/Medium +3 Ship Ops Launches Craft +5% to launched craft bonuses +7 Jump Cost (Thulun faction-locked) Cost: $320k Compare to: Micro Launch Bay 325 Mass/Medium +2 Ship Ops, +1 Electronics Launches Craft +15 Fuel, +6 Jump Cost Cost ~$200k Just want to say I second the idea of Medium launch bay that provides craft advantage, because the introduction of high-tier Large launch bays makes Medium less competitive, reducing effective build variety. However, probably best to faction-lock to a faction where you would be less likely to want Large slots for launch bays -- perhaps Javat, with their high-tier Large exploration components and holds?

Consider solar sail components. I imagine they would be mostly good for making deep space travel easier, but also has value for long-range ship combat.
Medium size Nano-Solar Sail System 1 -- adds Ship Ops and Nav; +1 Safety; +8 Escape; small fuel bonus Nano-Solar Sail System 2 (HIGH STARPORT REQUIREMENT) -- adds Ship Ops and Nav; +2 Safety; +12 Escape; small fuel bonus
Large size Solar Sail System -- adds Ship Ops and Nav; +2 Safety; +16 Escape; fuel bonus Advanced Sail System (HIGH STARPORT REQUIREMENT) -- adds Ship Ops, Nav, and a small amount of Electronics; +2 Safety; +18 Escape; fuel bonus; small Signature dampening bonus Dark Sail System (RYCHART EXCLUSIVE, HIGH STARPORT REQUIREMENT) -- adds Ship Ops, Nav, and a small amount of Electronics; +2 Safety; +20 Escape; fuel bonus; significant Signature dampening bonus

A lot of the commander debuffs hit stats that aren't that great. They also don't clear buffs. Compared to BH where -25% Acc and Damage is just amazing for 10, it would be cool if commanders had some more shout style effects or just didnt have them at all where they are now. Just going over Commander, the Morale heal is probably the only real good combat ability they have. Scorn is good too, but you have to get all the way to rank 11 to take it, which probably isn't worth it for a combat officer.

When upgrading to a HW engine that gave 18% faster warps, I saw that it was planned to take over 10 weeks at a Starport 10 world. This eats up a vast amount of the savings such a HW engine would ever grant. I would make it inline with the fuel efficient HW engine for upgrade time. Otherwise, it's just a bad move to invest in. Although I haven't used the performance hyperdrive yet, I disagree with the conclusion that it's necessarily a bad move to invest in it. First of all, turn savings aren't the only reason to upgrade to it, but it must be considered for the turn savings in addition to the increased skill soak. Second, a player might not be investing in it for increasing total amount of turns they are ahead of the difficulty clock, but to do more activities in a single "loop" (such as being able to effectively take more missions at once without having to worry as much about the deadline). Third, if you are queuing up the upgrade on a dry dock ship instead of direct upgrading your ship, the upgrade time hardly matters because you aren't "wasting" those 10 weeks waiting.
Edit: To be clear, I'm not disagreeing that the upgrade time should be reduced, I'm disagreeing that it is necessarily a bad move to invest in it when the upgrade time is 10 weeks.

Bounty Hunter
Diligent Warden When completing steps in a Mission that requires an Edict or involves picking up or dropping off a Prisoner, increase Contact Reputation and Influence bonuses by Resilience % This would effectively be a lesser version of the Diplomat's Upstaged Success talent. Compared to Upstaged Success, Diligent Warden would use Resilience instead of Charisma, and would only apply to a limited variety of missions.

Renaming Scientific Intel to something like Scientific Data would make it more clear that it is a separate resource from regular Intel. Since they currently have such similar names, it might cause newer players to mix them up.
